Lake Geneva Badger at Greendale - 2019 should be kinder to the Badgers, and this game will go a long way in determining just how kind. Quite a bit of talent is gone from G'Dale, but there always seems to be more waiting in the wings. These two have had some barnburners at Greendale in the past. I don't think this one will be any exception. The Panthers get the edge being at home.

Friday, 8/23

Whitnall at Burlington - Whitnall may be the odds-on favorite to capture the Woodland-East crown this year, but I have a hard time seeing them going down to Burlington and grabbing a win. The Woodland has struggled vs. the SLC historically, and Burlington, while not as big on the line this year as one would expect from an SLC squad, has some dynamic skill position talent to match the Falcons.

New Berlin West at Elkhorn - Elkhorn was oh-so-close a lot of the time last year, whereas NBW made the playoffs but suffered a surprising L1 loss to a Rock Valley team in East Troy. Elkhorn should be in a pretty good spot to get over the hump this year, which makes me somewhat skittish to take the Woodland team here, but NBW will not be a slouch of a team themselves this year.

Delavan-Darien at Lodi - The co-op-less Comets are hoping for a better year, but Lodi remains one of the state's more consistent programs.

Racine Lutheran at Union Grove - Litmus test for a team with designs on a gold ball. UG is a bigger, deeper team with a young QB brimming with potential, but they don't have a gamebreaker like Tenner nor the winning mentality and experience of RaLu. I'm expecting a relatively tight game, but Tenner makes a big run or two to win.

Kenosha Bradford at Waterford - Waterford should be able to ground-and-pound their way to victory in this one. It will give us some idea of where this Bradford team is though. They might have a heckuva backfield duo themselves if they don't go getting too pass-happy.

Racine Case at Westosha Central - It seems I may have short-shrifted the Eagles in my preview. There is quite a bit returning for the state's only urban-but-located-in-a-rural-setting-and-named-after-an-implement-maker high school. It's really up to them though to make things happen. Grafton got off the playoff schneid a year ago, is the other team without a visit since 1997 next?

Kenosha Indian Trail at Wilmot - These Kenosha/SLC matchups are always so tough-to-call. Contrasting styles and figuring out which one gets the upper hand is always tough, I'll go against coacha2 over on the Southeast board here and say the Panthers get the early-season victory.

Lake Geneva Badger at Greendale - Good indicator of where LGB is at as a program. Always get a solid game between these two.

Friday, 8/23

Whitnall at Burlington - SLC > Woodland East, despite lack of size in Burlington

New Berlin West at Elkhor - Litmus fest for Elkhorn, in a way.

Delavan-Darien at Lodi - Never bet against Dave Puls.

Racine Lutheran at Union Grove - RaLu is fixing to win a gold ball. They’ll get to test their mettle against UG.

Kenosha Bradford at Waterford -  Waterford could have s great year, especially if they get a kind playoff grouping.

Racine Case at Westosha Central - State your case, Case. Show out here and give us reason to believe the drought is over.

Kenosha Indian Trail at Wilmot - If I am to defeat DB, I must go against the grain sometimes. 😎

Lake Geneva Badger at Greendale: Seemingly Greendale-Badger has had some thrillers over the years. I don't see that changing tonight at Gavinski Stadium.

Friday, 8/23

Whitnall at Burlington: Whitnall looks like one of the major contenders in what should be a tight Woodland East but Burlington has visions of challenging Waterford atop the SLC this year with one of the leagues best QB's returning to the Demons.

New Berlin West at Elkhorn: Can Elkhorn get over the hump this year? This matchup will be an indicator if the Elks can do that.

Delavan-Darien at Lodi: D-D seems to have some decent parts this season but have to put up more points in order to take more than a game or two in the SLC.

Racine Lutheran at Union Grove: I have a feeling that this game will be close. UG looks to be a bit better than last season but RaLu has sights on being a major factor in D6 this year.

Kenosha Bradford at Waterford: The Wolverines have big things in mind this year. Problem is come playoff time, can they find a way to get past the Classic Eight/Greater Metro teams that tend to be stocked with athleticism that always seems to be the deciding factor?

Racine Case at Westosha Central: Seems Case will be a more interesting factor in the SEC especially when it comes down to the last playoff spot. Can they get three wins and maybe pull off the upset over someone in the top four? Stay tuned. Westosha could be in for a long year by the way it looks.

Kenosha Indian Trail at Wilmot: KIT could be a dark horse especially if their defense can wreak havoc in the backfield. Wilmot must wonder what does it take to make a decent run in the playoffs these days.
