Franklin beats OC in a big rivalry game

In the Conference GOTW I think Park has just enough left in the tank to get past a mediocre Bradford team that couldn’t score against a Tremper team Park trounced. I have been wrong In the past though

IT should be able to deal with Case but if we have bad weather again, this might get interesting.

The matchup of the cellar dwellers is one I think Horlick should win because of that Wing T but in a matchup like this It’s honestly hard to call.

Franklin at Oak Creek - because it's a big rivalry I'd like to say OC can keep this close for a while, but I think Franklin is way out of their league.  Sabers by a lot.

Friday, 10/18

Racine Park at Kenosha Bradford - According to Travis' latest qualifying report, Park will be the biggest D2 team.  This will probably be a 13-6 game with Park hitting for a big TD pass at some point to seal it late.

Kenosha Indian Trail at Racine Case - I think Case has a good shot here, it will be a defensive battle which plays well for them but I think KIT has a couple too many horses to contain.

Kenosha Tremper at Racine Horlick - seems my 2-7 prediction is likely going to come to fruition after all.  Things are very much not good at Tremper. That said, Horlick will have no problem running the ball this week, and they have the athletes to match Tremper on defense.

Franklin at Oak Creek - The conference turned out to be stratified, but it's only one team that's actually above it all. Why was Oak Creek getting pub to start the year? They've turned out to be painfully average (again). As Melkamania likes to say about Greenfield on the Woodland board, Joe Koch isn't walking back through that door. The rivalry factor could play into this one, but there's been little seen from either that tells me this game will be overly competitive.

Friday, 10/18

Racine Park at Kenosha Bradford - An offensively challenged team is what Park needed to see in their playoff quest, but unfortunately it's also a team with a fairly good defense. The winner likely gets in, the loser goes home, meaning the stakes are high, which team answers that bell first may be the winner. The notion of neither team scoring 20 and a big play deciding it sounds good to me, and Park has more of a threat in that regard.

Kenosha Indian Trail at Racine Case - Case is likely in for the first time since 1997, but would like to make sure of it here. Don't think that's in the cards as KIT wants to get themselves a game against an MPS school or 3-4 Southeast team and a loss here would hurt their case.

Kenosha Tremper at Racine Horlick - You lean Horlick here, but last week was an utter dumpster fire for them and you wonder if they haven't already packed it in. I don't get the sense that Tremper has. Who has more pride? Tune in Friday.

Fair enough.  But I hope the same privilege would be given to us 'non-coaches' if a coach decides to call us idiots because of our opinions.

Franklin at Oak Creek - Another rivalry game, but Franklin should be able to win this one without too much trouble. OC will try to make a game of it early, but Franklin will pull away with the win.

Friday, 10/18

Racine Park at Kenosha Bradford - Bradford has struggled all year and had the worst showing ever last week and I don't see them doing much in this game either. Park is a little better and should be able to get the win no problem.

Kenosha Indian Trail
at Racine Case - I wouldn't be surprised if Case pulled off the win here, but I just don't see it happening. KIT wants to get a win and keep the momentum going into the playoffs plus a win gets them a better seed. KIT is the better team here and will pick up the W.

Kenosha Tremper at Racine Horlick - Tremper had one of the worst showings ever last week, but Horlick hasn't been much better so this game will basically come down to who actually shows up ready to play and who has more pride. Tremper would like to forget all about last week and end there season on a much better note. I'm leaning towards Tremper here.

Racine Park at Kenosha Bradford - Yeah, I don't know. I can see either team winning this one, so I'm going to be different and pick Bradford in a tight game. No matter which team wins, they both seem like they will fare well with solid tiebreaker numbers.
Kenosha Indian Trail at Racine Case - KIT is looking to finish off their impressive season with a win over a solid team at Racine Case while Case can lock up a playoff spot if they can win. KIT has been the more impressive team, but the potential is there for Case to go into the playoffs with a 4-3 record.
Kenosha Tremper at Racine Horlick - Both teams have been eliminated, so this sets up a consolation prize for the winning team. My guess is Horlick squeaks out one final win. Better luck next season.

Franklin at Oak Creek - How good would Myles Burkett be if they took the bumpers off and just let the kid play?  Maybe we’ll find out in the playoffs—they’re going to have to if they want to beat Mukwonago and Muskego. What’s almost certain is that we won’t find out here. Franklin should roll in this one like they’ve rolled since getting off the bus from Fondy.

Friday, 10/18

Racine Park at Kenosha Bradford - I obviously can’t pick a game between these Racine and Kenosha schools to save my life this year, so let’s just take Park because they’re my sentimental choice. It’d be great to see them in D2 playoffs. (There, I said it... and probably cursed them to a loss here to boot.)

Kenosha Indian Trail at Racine Case - The odds say KIT, so take the odds I guess. They’re fighting for a 4-seed in either the Muskego Invitational or a much more open bracket opposite the Warriors, so there’s definitely something to play for here at playoff-ready, state-of-the-art Hammes Field.

Kenosha Tremper at Racine Horlick - Personally, I ain’t got no truck with either Coach McG or Coacha2. I just remember taking a Tremper helmet to my elbow during their early-90s glory days and losing all feeling from the joint down for the entire first half. Damn, those guys could hit.

Franklin at Oak Creek: The Helmet trophy remains with Franklin for another year.

Friday, 10/18

Racine Park at Kenosha Bradford: Battle to see who gets in at 3-4 this year. I think Park gets enough offense to sneak their way in.

Kenosha Indian Trail at Racine Case: Congrats Case you just very likely ended one of state's longest playoff droughts, it wasn't easy but here we are.

Kenosha Tremper at Racine Horlick: I really don't know about this one.

Wow. It was great to finally catch Franklin in action last night.  I've been rooting for Burkett all year but I had not actually seen him play a varsity game until yesterday.  That kid does not play like any sophomore I've ever seen.

I want to be careful about Franklin's defense because obviously, OC was younger and not as strong as the Sabers on the lines. Franklin won't be able to wreak that kind of havoc every down against the C8 heavyweights they'll need to go through if they want to get to Madison.

That offense is going to be able to score on just about anyone, though. Impressive.

The Sabers have better balance for sure.

Only going to get better too. Thought they were scary in the Baretz years...just watch.

Bit of a rough one for Park tonight. Bradford's sophomore QB made several big plays, whereas Park missed several open opportunities for big plays.

The Red Devils played like a program that's been in these situations a lot recently, the Panthers not so much.

Be curious to see where Park goes from here as a program. They lose a sizable senior class, but do return some experience. That little sophomore RB has some serious potential. I think they'd be best served moving to a more ground-based attack though. This relying on athletes to make big plays through the air is a very tenuous thing and unless they have some real good QB in the pipeline is probably gonna be more detrimental in the long run. The Panthers were very physical defensively, but on offense not so much, I think in part to not committing to a true running attack.
