Week Three Matchups

Friday, 9/6

Racine Case at Franklin - Myles Burkett is looking good but the questions for Franklin remain on the defensive side of the ball. Not sure which Plewa they miss more from last year-- the DC or his youngest son. The Sabers should win comfortably, as they likely should for the rest of the conference season, but they need to use the next seven weeks to ramp up their confidence and execution on D because Muskego sits squarely between them and Madison.

Racine Park at Kenosha Indian Trail - This doesn't look a lot different for Park than the Union Grove game. They need to beat someone that isn't South Milwaukee before I pick them again, though.

Oak Creek at Kenosha Tremper - This game is going to tell us a lot about both of these teams... and I honestly have no idea what it will say except that Milwaukee King and Waterford could probably each go 6-1 in the SEC this season.

Kenosha Bradford at Racine Horlick - I feel like Bradford's Week 2 win was a little more impressive than Horlick's, but man, these Southeast games are tough to call.

Toss up but I have to pick my Alma Mater here simply because I feel they have the better talent than KIT this year.
Toss up once again but I’m edging more towards Tremper in this matchup because OC has not looked good these first two games while Tremper at least showed some promise.
Good defense vs good offense in Bradford vs Horlick but I think the Wing T prevails.

Badger beats Wilmot
Brook East beats Arrowhead
ECM beats Rice Lake on the back of their ground game.

Racine Case at Franklin - I'd like to say that Case can hang with the Sabers, but something tells me this one is a blowout.

Racine Park at Kenosha Indian Trail - I believe this is probably KIT's poorest team in it's short history, but I still don't think Park is there yet.

Oak Creek at Kenosha Tremper - Oak Creek looked bad last week, but Waterford is pretty dang good.  Tremper is no where near as physical as Waterford, I wouldn't be surprised if this one gets out of hand.

Kenosha Bradford at Racine Horlick - Bradford's offense is almost non-existent, Horlick wins a surprisingly low scoring affair.

Racine Case at Franklin - It wasn't a lack of ability that hurt Case against Wilmot, it was a reversion to the turnovers, penalties and getting down on themselves that did them in. The coach and several players stated as much. Unfortunately, this is not the matchup to bounce-back on. However, a better performance could go a long way towards the fortunes of the Eagles' season.

Racine Park at Kenosha Indian Trail - Park competed in Week 2 and almost got the W. It's a continued good sign for the trajectory of that team. KIT won over Wilmot in Week 1, which is nothing to sneeze at, and put up a 50-burger against the ZeeBees. They seem to have things going over there regardless of any perceived dips in team quality. Wilmot should be better than UG this year and I think that gives the edge to KIT. It's nice to have to think a bit harder this year when picking the SEC.

Oak Creek at Kenosha Tremper - The shellacking for OC a week ago was a bit eye-opening, especially for a team getting some pub before the year. Talked to the family of one of their starting receivers over the holdiay weekend and they were every bit as mystified as to why there was so much hype around the team themselves. The generally line seemed to be, we're not bad, but some within the program seem to think a little bit too much of how good they really are. Interesting. Tremper struggled with King, but it is a King team poised to do some damage this season, perhaps even in the post-season. Is Tremper ready to do something within the SEC? I'm not sure we'll know for sure here, but we'll have a better idea.

Kenosha Bradford at Racine Horlick - Bradford's offense doesn't seem to have an identity at this point. I think they're really hurting themselves with all this passing. They should be riding Darden, Handford and the ground game to let the young QB to get his feet under him. That said, Horlick has been leakier than the Horlick Dam defensively, so this might be the week the Red Devils find some footing. Bradford wasn't bad defensively in Week 1, but last week really got it handed to them. Horlick seems to be finding themselves on offense and both Weaver and Williams give them a home run dimesnion that Bradford lacks at the minute. Rebels in a fun one.

I was just about to say something on this but you beat me to it. Park Crushed a similar level SM team while KIT dominated a ZeeBees team. KIT lost to Wilmot in a 1 score game as did Park to Union Grove. SM also plays a rather similar offense to KIT if memory serves me right so Park will have seen it and dominated it once this season. KIT is also on a down year whereas Park is on the up this year from the looks of things. This game could end a few different ways, Shootout, slugfest, or outright domination by either team.

After being mostly off the grid last weekend, I spent parts of the last two days going through 180+ box scores...and things seem to have gotten blurry.😉

Regardless that's still a good showing from KIT and the point still holds.

Racine Case at Franklin: A respectable result here for Case will go a long way to determine their fate in conference play. Franklin put the mute button on Appleton North's O for the entire game only allowing a TD in garbage time. The bigger question is who will be under center Friday for the Sabers? Burkett or Miller?

Racine Park at Kenosha Indian Trail: KIT showed off the offensive firepower in their win over Z-B. Park fell short against a beat up Union Grove squad. These conference games will be prove it to me types for Park going forward.

Oak Creek at Kenosha Tremper: Perhaps the hype was unwanted for the Knights. Waterford rolled them rather handily last Thursday. Tremper couldn't stop King in the second half. I could see this being close but like Park, these will be prove it to me games for the Trojans.

Kenosha Bradford at Racine Horlick: Not sure what to make of both teams at this point. I feel this will be a close game regardless.
