Cedarburg at Grafton - Grafton is looking to build on their long-awaited return to the playoffs a year ago, and return quite a bit to make that happen. I think they win by a few scores here, but Cedarburg should be improved this year. They have skill position talent, but the question remains if the line play can gel and get back to a "Cedarburg-level" of quality.

Slinger at Hartford - Opening up with this one, huh? I'll take Hartford, they're at home, and seem to have an identity as a program again.

West Bend West at Homestead - Poor West, but I guess get it out of the way early and get to focusing on winnable matchups if you're West. For Homestead, a nice, easy tune-up to get things going again.

Port Washington at West Bend East - PW's graduation losses far outweigh WBE's, who should be in position to fight for another playoff berth in the wide-open North Shore (if you forget that Homestead exists).

Nicolet at Whitefish Bay - PW took a big hit to graduation, but unfortunately so did Nicolet. Could be a close one...or maybe it won't. It'll give us a decent idea of where these teams stand though.

Games of Note

Hudson at Onalaska - I think Hudson took some pretty big graduation hits.

Kettle Moraine at Waukesha West - Not sure what to make of West at this point. They'll have good line play and probably find a running back and receivers around Blount, but will they be dynamic West or just competent West again this year? KM has Wedig, but also a new coach and need to find talent to plug in at the skill positions.

New Berlin Eisenhower at Plymouth - Oh boy. These have been pretty wild season-openers for the most part...and both teams should be in position for playoff runs again. I guess I'll take the home team, but it is very much a coin flip game. Curious to see how IKE replaces Shields and Himmelspach...not that you really replace the former.

Cedarburg at Grafton: It's wierd considering not that long ago, this would be Cedarburg blowing out Grafton but Grafton is where Cedarburg was vice-versa.

Slinger at Hartford: It'll be tough early on for Slinger to get much traction. Fortunate for them however the North Shore has become an Expert Level in Minefield as of late.

West Bend West at Homestead: The talent drain at Homestead heading into this year was staggering but anytime you have Dave Keel roaming the sidelines, he'll find the next batch of stars from the underclassmen ranks. West's goal is to be a bit more competitive on a weekly basis.

Port Washington at West Bend East: East has gotten into a pretty solid stretch where they have been making the playoffs the last few years. That could continue here. PW is in the same boat but need to quickly replace a lot of production.

Nicolet at Whitefish Bay: Bay seems to be the number two on paper (Well mine that is.....) but they are still quite young. Nicolet will be battling WBW to stay out of the basement this year again.
