Racine St. Catherine's at Lake Country Lutheran - If this ends up getting played at LCL (and I'm sure Brazgel and Co. will do everything to try and make that a reality), this could be real intriguing as the field will be slow, messy track. As it stands I think it gets moved to Arrowhead (or some other turf field), and that would certainly play to the Angels' strengths. The big play capability is certainly titlted in their favor and it's what got them by last week.

St. Mary's Springs at Racine Lutheran - I just think it's the Crusaders' time. Springs is in a lot better shape than they were early in the year and they've finally figured out their running game. This is going to be a battle in the trenches and I think RaLu matches up quite well there. The question of depth remains a concern (Springs has a 2,800-yard career rusher coming off the bench), but it's hard to see Tenner not doing something spectacular even if this one is an absolute grinder.

Catholics vs Lutherans! The alternate-universe WISAA Class B semifinals! Racine vs The World! What a week we have in front of us here.

Racine St. Catherine's at Lake Country Lutheran - Much is made of the speed the Angels bring to the table, but I humbly suggest that their program motto ("Angel Strong") and everything it signifies is what they need to make the difference in games like this. The boys in this program are dedicated to the weight room from an early age and that makes a tremendous difference in their conference; they will need every inch of it against LCL. I do think they come out ahead here because of that strength, plus speed and experience. They've been on top of the mountain the Lightning are trying to climb.

D6:

St. Mary's Springs at Racine Lutheran - I don't just reference the WISAA days for fun; Bob Hyland's program has gone against runners like Tenner and size like the Purple Lutherans' before and come out looking pretty good. I don't think "RaLu" has played anyone like Springs before and, much like some of these other picks, I think that preparation can be the key. Springs is going to get punched in the mouth and they're going to get a look at talent they haven't seen before, but they will have the resilience to weather that first haymaker and keep on swinging in their own right. Lutheran's ability to do the same thing will determine whether they win or go home.
