I had completely forgotten he still had eligibility. Seems like a lifetime ago he showed up on the scene.

True freshmen, inside linebacker Leo Chenal and quarterback Graham Mertz, stood out in Saturday's open-to-the-public scrimmage, which replaced the annual Spring Football Game.

Badgers' 2019 Post-Spring Practice Projected 2-Deep Depth Chart:

IMO, UW has more talent, experience and depth (at some positions more than others) than most fans realize and/or give them credit for.

Perhaps...but remember this time last year when UW had three bonafide first-round picks on their vaunted O-LIne?

3 bonafide first-round picks, 2 of whom couldn't pass-block to save their arses.

To be honest, Dan, I wouldn't be surprised if 2019's O-line performs better, as a unit, than last season's over-rated group.

Logan Bruss & Cole Van Lanen have experience at the tackle positions and Tyler Biadasz is a potential All-American at center.  Jason Erdman has played all 5 O-Line positions and will line up at one guard.  Kayden Lyles moves over from the D-line & will start at the guard spot opposite Erdman.

The 2019 pass-blocking can only improve compared to 2018's season-long disaster.

Jimmy Leonard's secondary, while young (mostly sophomores), has depth & experience at all 4 positions. They should be fun to watch.

If Isaiah Loudermilk & Garrett Rand can stay healthy, the D-line should be OK. Much is expected at nose tackle from Olive Sagapuolo protégé,'  big Bryson Williams.  Unfortunately, the D-Line lacks depth & experience.

Strangely, the linebacking corps, for the first time in many seasons, is the most inexperienced group on defense, although Zach Baun & Chris Orr have starting experience.

The Big Ten sportswriters & other media have picked Wisconsin to finish 3rd in the Big 10 West Division behind Nebraska & Iowa.

Michigan is favored to win the East Division by a hair over Ohio St.  The Wolverines are also picked to win the Big 10 Championship game.

UW's Jonathon Taylor is the choice as pre-season Offensive Player of the Year.

The Badgers are receiving their fair share of 2019 individual pre-season honors.

Running back Jonathan Taylor and center Tyler Biadasz have been unanimous & consensus selections to every pre-season College All-American team released so far.  Offensive tackle Cole Van Lanen has received anywhere from 1st team honors to honorable mention.  And, tight end Jake Ferguson has shown up as high as a 2nd team pick and often as honorable mention.

The above-mentioned Badgers have also been named to several pre-season position awards watch lists.
