Oconomowoc at Brookfield Central - Thought this might be a turnaround season for Cooney. After Week 1's result, that's not going to be the case. BC rolls again before things start to get a bit more challenging for the Lancers.

Friday, 8/24

Arrowhead at Muskego - The way Marquette controlled AHS at the LOS was scary...especially considering we're a good decade removed from anything resembling Smash 'em Basham football from the Hilltoppers. Muskego will be a whole 'nother animal. Heck, last year they running clocked 'em at Arrowhead. Looking at Arrowhead's schedule, it's not inconceivable they go 0-4 to start the year. I can't imagine that'll sit well with that community.

Waukesha North at Catholic Memorial - North has some ability and certainly could stay in this game, but CMH will win the battle in the trenches and of course, the game.

Waukesha West at Waukesha South - South came out firing with an unexpected week 1 victory on the back of some excellent performances from sophomores...that bodes well? For West, KM is a tough opponent to start with, and outside of Mikulak ripping off two long runs, they didn't exactly do much offensively. I'd like to think there's a chance South throws a scare in the Wolverines, but...nah, history dictates that West rolls.

Mukwonago at Kettle Moraine - KM has to be feeling good after that Week 1 showing. Mukwonago wasn't too bad either, though I don't really know how to read that performance. This week should provide a better barometer.

Oconomowoc at Brookfield Central: Oconomowoc got beaten badly by Waukesha South. BC rolls.

Friday, 8/24

Arrowhead at Muskego: Muskego grinded down North. Considering how the Warhawks got out-muscled by Marquette, this will be more of the same.

Waukesha North at Catholic Memorial: One of these days North has to win a game against the top half of the league if they want to get to the playoffs.

Waukesha West at Waukesha South: South is 1-0 congratulations! Unfortunately West isn't too pleased being whipped by Kettle Moraine last week.

Mukwonago at Kettle Moraine: Impressive win by Kettle last week. It won't be easy but they go to 2-0 here.

Oconomowoc at Brookfield Central - So how exactly did BC land Cooney for the crossover, and not Muskego or Memorial? Would much rather see them playing Memorial, West or even KM.

Friday, 8/24

Arrowhead at Muskego -  Looks like Muskego has those second and third options they need to be a serious threat again this year. Meanwhile, Arrowhead really wasn't bad against Marquette-- without turnovers, that game had the potential to be a lot closer-- but they clearly lack playmakers. I think they're going to struggle in 2018, not just against Muskego but in a number of games on their calendar.

Waukesha North at Catholic Memorial - You can go about your business.  Move along.  Move along.

Waukesha West at Waukesha South - Great opportunity for South to grab an early lead and jump on a West team that is probably doubting themselves a bit... but if not, it's curtains.

Mukwonago at Kettle Moraine - Look, I don't like much about how KM is building things. Their 8th Grade teams showed up to a youth scrimmage (you know, where everyone else wears dirty practice jerseys) in form-fitting, game-quality jerseys with the players' names on the back. That sort of entitlement drives me nuts. But they ARE building something, and while MUK is too, KM is a year or two further along with it than the Indians are. That year or two is their edge in this game.

Games of Note

Lake Country Lutheran at Darlington - LCL needs to hurry up and grow to 600+ students and join the Woodland West in realignment before Bill Young retires. I'd love to see them vs. Memorial.

Oconomowoc at
Brookfield Central - Expected Oconomowoc to take a step forward and instead.... a dud. Central looked as lethal as advertised. This will be a blowout

Friday, 8/24

Arrowhead at
Muskego - Given the way Marquette controller Arrowhead through the run game, and the run game is Muskego’s specialty, should be a blowout right? Maybe not. I take Muskego but I got a gut feeling something screwy happens.

Waukesha North at
Catholic Memorial - CMH might get tested for 2 or 3 quarters but will pull away.
Waukesha West
at Waukesha South - A youth movement produced an unexpected win for the Blackshirts and maybe there’s something good brewing here. History does not favor the upset but then again North did go to Arrowhead and shocked the world. Gonna stick with my head, not my heart however.

Mukwonago at
Kettle Moraine - KM has something real nice brewing this season, I feel.

Games of Note

Madison La Follette at
Madison Memorial - Alwahs knew Memorial had the athletes to compete in the Big 8, but didn’t feel they had the experience or grit to knock of SP. I was proven wrong. This is likely the best two teams of the MMSD, and it should be a good one.

Middleton
at Verona - The County M rivalry typically is hotly billed but Middleton has owned this series. Despite the graduation losses, Simon has once again crafted a team that can win the conference.

Lake Country Lutheran
at Darlington - Credit to LCL for scheduling two SWAL teams. I like Darlington, but LCL is one of the top teams in D5, and rolled a very good Mineral Point team.
