Week Two Matchups

Friday, 8/24

Lake Mills at
New Glarus/Monticello - Given Lake Mills is sorting out new faces at skill positions, and the game is on the road against a veteran NGM team, I think the Knights got the edge here.

Adams-Friendship at Poynette - AF has a few solid athletes if my memory serves correct, but the Pumas did shut out ‘Loo, so that has to count for them.

Kettle Moraine Lutheran at Luther Prep - If memory serves correct here, Luther Prep blew out KML last season.

Columbus at Platteville - Platteville will be right around the top of a very solid SWC and Columbus didn’t finish.

Wisconsin Dells at Lodi - Admittedly, Lodi definitely ubderwhelmed me, but they’re still a cut above Dells yet.

Parkview at Belleville - Could turn ugly rather quickly. Belleville appears to have a dynamic offense.

Cambridge at Cochrane-Fountain City - Appears Denver Evans is the right kid to replace DeForrst. Looked real good last week.

Stanley-Boyd at Marshall - Not  good sign for Marshall. Getting blasted by P-E was bad, but bringing in a very strong S-B team of the Cloverbelt could end badly for Marshall.

Waterloo at Palmyra-Eagle - Speaking of P-E, that was a good road win. Now that they’re at home however, they should be able to cruise here.

Lake Mills at New Glarus/Monticello: Mills went up against a traditional power in Menomonie and get whipped. They however should have an easier time against New Glarus.

Adams-Friendship at Poynette: A-F is probably in for a long season. Poynette wins easily.

Kettle Moraine Lutheran at Luther Prep: Prep nearly came away with a W against Ripon. They should however have no issue here.

Columbus at Platteville: Cardinals start 0-2.

Wisconsin Dells at Lodi: Lodi had more issues than expected with D-D. They however should have no problem here.

Parkview at Belleville: Belleville did what Abbotsford and Gilman did to MONLPC SMALL, blow them out of the water. While it won't be easy as last week, they should win here.

Cambridge at Cochrane-Fountain City: Go with the road team.

Stanley-Boyd at Marshall: S-B drops a struggling Marshall team.

Waterloo at Palmyra-Eagle: Toss up.

Finals from tonight.

Poynette 16, A-F 6
Lodi 40, Wisconsin Dells 0
Lakeside Lutheran 35, Elkhorn 20
Lake Mills 35, NGM 0 (yikes)
Luther Prep 31, KML 16
Cambridge 35, C-FC 14
Stanley-Boyd 34, Marshall 0
Belleville 46, Parkview 6
Palmyra-Eagle 56, Waterloo 13

I guess the WH game was Thursday after all. WH 70, Port Edwards 34

• Lodi was only up 6-0 early on but then snapped out of it and cruised. They look strong on defense. Interested in their matchup next week.

• Poynette off to a respectable 2-0 start.

• Lakeside may have beat the bottom feeder of the SLC but given they lost this game a year ago, it’s a good win.

• I whiffed BAD on Lake Mills. I had the Knights pegged to upset the L-Cats as they seemed up to the challenge. No dice there. LM looks every bit a sleeper.

• Luther Prep again appears talented, but can they knock off one of the top 3? Seems iffy at best.

• Cambridge appears to have a real good team. They’re one to watch.

• Ditto for Belleville, though I wish they played a beefier NC slate. Could be detrimental to them.

• Kind of expected these results from Marshall and Waterloo. It’s weird seeing Marshall struggle like this. I know they’ve got solid athletes, they’re just not great football athletes it seems. Waterloo just seems lost right now. Could be a long season for them. The rivalry game with Marshall may be each team’s only shot for a conference win.
