Week One Matchups

Thursday, 8/16

Lake Mills at Menomonie: Big test off the bat for the L-Cats against perennial D2 power Menomonie.

Friday, 8/17

Lakeside Lutheran at Adams-Friendship: Unsure what A-F has returning after a rather forgettable season last year. Lakeside should win this.

Lodi at Delavan-Darien/Williams Bay: Defending D4 champs start the year off right. D-D is still an unknown team for me yet.

Waterloo at Poynette: Kinda even in terms of talent. Go with the Cap-North team.

Ripon at Luther Prep

Omro at Columbus: Can Columbus bounce back after a 2-7 year last season? This game will be a gauge on this theory.

Belleville at Elcho/White Lake: When in doubt, pick the non-MONLPC Small team.

Cambridge at Brookfield Academy

New Glarus/Monticello at Dodgeville

Palmyra-Eagle at Marshall

8-Man: Wisconsin Heights at Abundant Life Christian/St. Ambrose (8/18)

Week One Matchups

Thursday, 8/16

Lake Mills at Menomonie - Beefy choice of opponent, Lake Mills. Unfortunately that’s one of the best D2 programs around.

Friday, 8/17

Lakeside Lutheran at Adams-Friendship - Expecting a running clock to be honest.

Lodi at Delavan-Darien/Williams Bay - D/D a bit of an unknown as stated above. Lodi has holes to fill but a strong program. They’ll figure things out in NC games.

Waterloo at Poynette

Ripon at Luther Prep

Omro at Columbus - I will take a flier on Columbus.

Belleville at Elcho/White Lake - Belleville should feast here.

Cambridge at Brookfield Academy - Cambridge will be good if they can adequately replace DeForest.

New Glarus/Monticello at Dodgeville - NGM will be good as long as Feller is healthy.

Palmyra-Eagle
at Marshall -  First time in a while where Marshall could struggle bad.

8-Man: Sevastopol at
Wisconsin Heights

Sounds like Heights picked up Sevastopol, who had Bowler/Gresham cancel their season on them. Heights will then play Gillett on 9/21 to fill the other spot vacated by AL/SA.

Score I’ve seen this far

Cambridge 41, Brookfield Academy 7
Belleville 69, Elcho/White Lake 0
Omro 21, Columbus 14
Poynette 24, Waterloo 0
Lakeside Lutheran 40, Adams-Friendship 6
Menomonoe 33, Lake Mills 7
Palmyra-Eagle 33, Marshall 8
Lodi 13, Delavan-Darien/WB 7
Ripon 14, Luther Prep 13
NGM 43, Dodgeville 0

Cambridge, Belleville and NGM all looked as good as advertised. Cambridge passing the ball as effectively as they did bodes well.

Didn't expect Marshall to get beaten by four scores but their offense has a gaping hole without Opoku-Appoh.

Could be a long year for Waterloo.

Knew Lodi would take some time to come to life offensively but their defense played as well as we’ve come to expect from them.

Still hard to read Poynette, though you always got to feel good having a shutout.

Lakeside looks like they’ll be very strong on offense, and their defense was effective too. They’ll be worth watching.

Columbus seems like they’ll give fights but finishing games may be a theme.

Lake Mills scheduled a real tough opponent and it showed, but they didn’t get blown off the field. May be a sleeper team.

Prep seems to me like they’ve got talent, but just didn’t finish. Unclear where they stand, but the pecking order in this conference seems cut and dry thus far.

Wisconsin Heights lost 52-34 to Sevastopol.

not shocked at result; Sevastopol was 9-1 a year ago and Heights is slightly young. Still like the Vanguards’ chances in the Great 8.
