Find out where the regulars are jig/pan fishing, set your tip ups 20 yards away, grab a beer, BBQ some venison brats and stand by![]

A Playoff will not be any more fair than the BCS.
No matter what happens, Favre > Rodgers.
St. Louis Cardinals = Class of MLB.
Carlos Gomez is the new Nyjer Morgan.....

That sounds real classy. Do you also set up deer stands on public lands 50 yards from another hunter?

Have you never ice fished on a busy lake before?

Take a trip to Poygan, ice a fish, and see what happens.....

LOTS of "seagull" fisherman on that lake!!!!

Kind of have to be on Poygan. [8d]

Not really.... Just keep "spots" marked in GPS to refer back to in upcoming years.

Not going to lie, some of my best days ever out there have been in places that I haven't had another person within a 1/2 mile of me!!!

On lakes around here like Wind Lake, Muskego or Ashippun etc, there are small towns jig fishing for pan fish on weekends.
More cars and trucks than a Wal Mart lot.

For a guy starting out, you can fish the edges with tip ups using medium shiners to catch some Northern Pike.
The Pike generally cruise the area because that's where the bait fish are.

If you were to stay 20 yards or so away, no one would be offended.
Some of those guys are elbow to elbow............we don't each have our own private lake down here![]

Just got back from Madison fishing on Lake Waubesa. No such luck! Did have a hit within the first 20 minutes of being there, but the Pike snapped the line right when it got to the surface! It was nice to catch up with a friend and talk about things over a few brewskis!

Well, I think the hammer drops Tuesday.
There is not much cover left, if we get the snow they are talkin' the game farm guided hunts will diminish.
Me and Elvis had a great season, considering he was rehabbing both ACL's being surgecated![]

He is down to 78#'s of badazzed muscle.
His knees are in great shape.
It was a blast............

Now I gotta start getting ready for the steelhead run and start training dogs for Hunt tests and Field Trials.

Gonna try real hard to get CJ to take me on a trout expedition or 2!!!![]

Fished Bass Bay yesterday. A bit slower than usual, but still caught a few decent (read: not snakes) 18''-24'' northerns and a couple keeper crappies.

Also, lost a jig pole down the hole when it was briefly left unattended to deal with a tip-up. Great timing by that northern...

...on the bright side, my brother won two Frabill jig poles and a tip-up in a bucket raffle, so we somehow still ended up ahead there.

It was getting awful soupy out there by the end of the day and I can only imagine how wet it is today with these mild temps.

DB, did you by chance see the motorcycles racing on the lake?
If so, the guy running the yellow Grom was my buddy.

What a neat sport!!![]

No, can't say any cycles were out there yesterday. Was a guy riding his bicycle on the ice though. []

Stocked up on some copper head squirrel and pheasant nymphs as well as a couple synthetic spawn eggs lures.
Scouted the river, saw a couple of fanned out beds, so the steelheads are moving in.

It's on!!!!

The DNR's new website and turkey leftover permit process is a nightmare. I was logged in at 9:30a.m. and they told me I would be randomly placed in line. At 10:00 when it opened up it said I was 2198th in line. So I opened another window when it crashed on them at 10:06 and they put me in 5045th place in line. Unreal. Now there were 5092 available tags left in Zone 1 , season 3. If I am 2198th in line I should get one.

Unrelated, but in general, I'm super skeptical of the DNR's new licensing system.

Can't wait to get stopped on the water or in the field, and have their equipment not be able to find proof I purchased a license by cross-referencing it with my driver license number. Just give me a slip of paper.

I printed everything off and I will continue to carry it in a backtag with me. Also, you can easily pull up the system on your iphone and view your licenses. It's easy that way. I actually did it at lunch to create my son's account.

Problem though, you can only have 1 person per email. So if you have a family of hunter's each has to have their own login and own email. So my 11 yr old son has his own account. Weird stuff. I am against the no printout thing though. I am also against calling in registrations. Just promotes more lying and skirting the system.

Wondering if you ever hunted outside Wisconsin? I hunted in many states over the years where all I had to do was tag the animal, load it in my truck, then drive home. No registration was even required. Not sure if this has changed since it has been some time, but in both Montana and the UP-Michigan were that way. I hunted in other states where registration was not required, but those 2 come to mind immediately. MOST hunters aren't violators and those that are aren't stopped by 'registrations/etc'. Wisconsin is finally joining the rest of the country when it comes to hunting regulations(backtags, etc). All you nervous nellies can relax - wildlife wont be decimated by CHANGE.

Apparently you have never hunted in Clark County.
