Lodi @ Columbus: Interesting game but Lodi will not be able to score enough points to win this game. They will slow Cbus down a little but Columbus by 17. Either team can clinch playoffs with win.

Lakeside @ LM: I will go lake mills in a high scoring affair. LM by 14. LM can clinch playoffs with win

Poynette @ Luther Prep: Luther Prep gets the win here by 6.

Cambridge @ Belleville: Don't know what to think of Belleville so Blue jays by 3

Marshall @ Waterloo: Marshall just isn't very good. Waterloo by 10.

Mosinee @ NG: I will take the home team by 4. No nothing about Mosinee.

Heights by 19

Believe WIAA gave the C-South a break and 2 gets you in.

Lodi at Columbus - Biggest game of the year on either side. Columbus gets their first real test in Lodi, who, offensivly, hasn't been on fire, but has discipline, defernse and coaching to its advantage. So, what gives? Columbus has that dynamic offense and they're at home. I'm gonna take the Cardinals.... but I will be unsurprised if Lodi does in fact win.

Lakeside "at" Lake Mills - Slider Bowl! It's the L-Cats that rule the town this year.

Poynette at Luther Prep - Poynette seems better IMO..... could go either way.

Marshall at Waterloo - Marshall may not win more than 2 or 3..... shocking, to say the least.

Cambridge at Belleville - Tread with care, Belleville..... a slip up kills you. Going on a limb for you.

Mosinee at NGM - Typically, larger schools like Mosinee more or less feature more depth... NG is good, but I don't think they can match that.

Wisconsin Heights at Abundant Life Christian - Heights.... do you have another upset in store? They haven't had a true win in a bit here........ and this is the toughest test yet. ALCS for pick 'em reasons, this is one I hope to be wrong on.

I do owe you. Work kicked this down all week; I finally had a chance to sit and do this tonight.

Lodi at Columbus: It's a reversal of 2014, when Lodi had the high-powered offense and Columbus had the high-powered defense, and the Blue Devils forced a turnover deep in Columbus territory and finally pounded it in to win 10-7. Were the Blue Devils playing possum last week at home vs. Luther Prep, or was that a sign of things to come? Can the Cardinals offense steamroll over yet another team, or can Lodi slow things down and grind out enough offense? The (at-least 9 games, probably longer) winning streak over Columbus, the 19-game conference winning streak, the 21-game regular season unbeaten streak, ... if the Cardinals don't win this week, they may never win this matchup again. Columbus by 21.

Lakeside Lutheran at Lake Mills: The Slider Bowl has had a way of producing unexpected results in past years. Not this year, though - not with clinching a playoff spot on the line. (Note, though: if the Warriors win this one, it becomes really likely the North sends only two teams to the playoffs. Again.) L-Cats by 21.

Poynette at Luther Prep: It's must-win time for the Pumas. It's also must-win time for the Phoenix, who controlled much of last week's game vs. Lodi until late. Normally, I'd take the hosts in a toss-up game ... but I'll deviate here, because a loss here puts Poynette in real danger of going 0-5 in conference play, and I just can't picture that with this team. Pumas by 2.

Marshall at Waterloo: I don't know the last time the Cardinals had it stuck to them by their Wisconsin 19 neighbors, but there's a real possibility that it happens here. Pirates by 32.

Cambridge at Belleville: At the start of the season I had the Wildcats getting into the playoffs, and the Bluejays not coming close. At least one of those two looks badly off; after this week, both might. Bluejays by 7.

Mosinee at NG/M: Some will be tempted to take the Indians because they're the larger school. I'm not. Not even remotely. Glarner Knights by 27.

Wisconsin Heights at Abundant Christian Life: The next two weeks will be the real test for the Vanguards, as they play the top two teams in the Great 8-South. I'm not from Missouri, but I say "show me." Challengers by 22.

Lodi at Columbus: Probably going down to the last possession in this one. Columbus pulls this one out.

Lakeside Lutheran at Lake Mills: Another non-playoff year for Lakeside.

Poynette at Watertown Luther Prep: Poynette keeps their playoff hopes alive for another week.

Cambridge at Belleville: I think Cambridge has been getting better as the season went by.

Marshall at Waterloo: Toss up.

Mosinee at New Glarus/Monticello: Despite being down this year, I think Mosinee will pull this one off.

Saturday, 10/1

Wisconsin Heights at Abundant Life Christian (8-man): Best 8-Man game out there this week.

Final scores:

-- Columbus 21, Lodi 17. The Cardinals clinch a playoff spot and get the last remaining giant gorilla off their backs.
-- Lakeside Lutheran 42, Lake Mills 28. As expected, the Slider Bowl results in the unexpected as the Warriors overcome a pair of 14-point deficits to win.
-- Luther Prep 23, Poynette 21. The Pumas' postseason chances get torpedoed on the road.
-- Belleville 30, Cambridge 27. Down 11 at the half, the Wildcats come back to win and keep their playoff hopes alive.
-- Waterloo 21, Marshall 15. The Pirates set up a showdown with New Glarus/Monticello for the C-South title and push the Cardinals' playoff chances to the brink.
-- New Glarus/Monticello 14, Mosinee 12. The Glarner Knights score the nonconference win in front of next week's showdown with Waterloo.
-- Abundant Heights/St. Ambrose 42, Wisconsin Heights 24. It was close at the half, but eventually it was too much Rhatican (9-14-154, 3 TD) and Iwuagu (26-259) for the Vanguards.

Week 8 post coming up shortly.

Yep, I realized that when I was doing the Week 8 write-up ... and then I got busy on other stuff and never came back to edit it.
