With both UWW and UWSP both making it to the D3 tourney last year and UWW winning the title they appear to be the Favorites yet again. Will they run away with it or will someone make a secret run on the way to top.

Whitewater is the clear-cut preseason favorite, and it's not even close. The average WIAC probably can't name one guy in UWSP's four man weekend pitching rotation. While the Pointers have a great line-up, they are extremely untested on the mound, especially with Watson being out with an injury.

Unfortunately, I don't think they are consistent enough offensively to win the National Championship this season.

In my opinion they are the best team in the WIAC in part thanks to having the deepest pitching staff, but at the National Level they need to have more consistent at-bats. You can't go from scoring 7 runs in 18 innings against an average St. Norbert College team (yet still manage to get a pair of victories) and then put up 31 runs in 14 innings against Stevens Point. That type of inconsistency will catch up with you at some point.

A little foreshadowing maybe?

After putting up 20 and 11 runs in a pair of wins against Stevens Point last Wednesday, Whitewater struggle at the plate and is swept in a pair of games against the same Stevens Point team this afternoon losing 3-2 and 15-5.

Don't look now, but if Whitewater doesn't take all four against Stout this weekend, La Crosse will be your host and #1 seed for the WIAC Tournament next weekend.

Whitewater sees their season come to a close at Regionals this year, after inexplicably starting their #4 pitcher against Ripon and opening the 8-team double elimination Regional with a convincing loss. The Warhawks bounced back behind a pair a shutouts from their #1 and #2 pitchers, but saw their bullpen blow a 7-0 seventh inning lead in their fourth game. Concordia Chicago scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth to complete the comeback and earn an 8-7 victory.

Stevens Point on the other hand had their offense let them down as they went win, loss, win, loss with both losses coming by identical 4-2 scores.

La Crosse is the last WIAC team standing and they will need to beat Coe College twice today to earn a trip to Appleton and the College World Series.

Carthage is also still alive despite losing their first game of Regionals, but similar to La Crosse, they will need to beat Webster College twice today to earn a trip to Appleton and the College World Series.

I guarantee those connected to the College World Series in Appleton are both pulling for La Crosse and Carthage to defy the odds, as it would likely boost attendance numbers if one (or even a pair) of Wisconsin teams were to qualify.

La Crosse advanced to their first ever CWS by defeating Coe(5-4, 15-4) twice today. Coach Schwarz has done a heck of a job turning the program around, nice to see them make the next step.

I really hope UWL beats Webster in the championship- just so I can rub it in their faces (I went to UWL and now work at Webster)

I may be confused, but weren't UWL and Webster in different regionals??

Or did Webster advance to the World Series too? I know UWL advanced. I wasn't aware if
Webster did too and then your post makes sense. A bit behind on the sport news as I was
on the road all weekend.

Webster beat Carthage to advance to the College World Series as well...

However, with that said, the ONLY way La Crosse and Webster would play each other is if they both win their pools and advance to the Championship Round. (D3 is following the same CWS set-up as D1 now. Pool play followed by Best-of-3 Championship.)
