This is what I don't understand. If the Brewers don't re-sign Hart, then why not make a run at Justin Morneau? Favorable park and he is defensively sound.

The Brewers are already playing the same card they played last year in the off season of not doing anything. With the new national television contract that begins in 2014 each team gets an extra 25 million in revenue. While I don't advocate spending money just for the sake of spending money, the notion that the Brewers don't have any extra money to spend to increase their payroll seems misguided. I will be disappointed if their opening day payroll isn't around 100 million next year with that extra income they are getting.

I'm sure Mark A. will make the executive decision to sign Ervin Santana in late March and forfeit another 1st round draft pick.

As long as Melvin and Seid are in charge I'm not sure I want them making picks in the first round anyway...[]

11pm tonight the deadline to set 40-man rosters in preparation for next month?s Rule 5 draft. Any eligible player left off his club?s 40-man will be eligible for selection in the Rule 5 draft. The Brewers currently have 36 players on their roster. Only teams not at the full allotment of 40 players may make a selection in the Rule 5 draft. The Brewers do have a few decisions to make on a few players not on their roster. Hunter Morris, Jason Rogers, and Kevin Shackelford are probably the three most likely to be added.

The Brewers added four players to their 40 man roster last night. As expected, Hunter Morris and Jason Rogers were added as well as pitchers Brooks Hall and Kevin Shackelford. Now that they are at 40 players the Brewers will not be able to select anyone in next month's Rule 5 draft.

The Brewers have signed former Pirates LHP Zach Duke to a minor league deal which includes an invitation to Major League spring training.

Let's see if I have this right.

This off season the Brewers lost their best 1B man (who alledgedly wanted to stay), traded one of the best contact hitters in baseball (sound fundamentally in all facets of the game) and plan to start a modern day Kevin Bass in place of him and picked up 2 mop up Pitchers .
BTW--For those of you who don't know who Kevin Bass is......my point exactly!!!!![]

All righty then!!!!!![afro]

Kevin Bass did bring the Brewers Don Sutton in 1982. I don't think Khris Davis is going to get the Brewers David Price at the August trading deadline this year.
