Trade deadline is Thursday afternoon...very quiet thus far. I expect at least one trade by tomorrow and it'll go from there. Kind of strange though, this was expected to be one of the biggest trade deadlines in awhile and after all-star weekend, it was proclaimed to be one of the biggest duds because there are so many teams being tight with their money and draft picks. Here's what's been discussed so far....

Buyers-

Phoenix Suns-very active in talks. They have a huge offering in Okafor's expiring and insurance paid for contract. They also have three 1st round draft picks this year and an additional one in 2015. Unfortunately, these picks aren't looking too inspiring thus far (late teen's, early 20's). They don't have much to offer outside of that, but could nab them one more wing piece or big man. Boozer was a rumor straight up for Okafor, but I'd guess Chicago wants more back.

Brooklyn Nets-still looking for more pieces to add and have an injured player exception to use. Rumored today was Jordan Hill to BKN for probably nothing (cash) where LA clears up a spot and cuts salary. BKN gets a younger productive big man who has never been in favor in LA.

Charlotte Bobcats-suddenly playoff contenders by virtue of a terrible East, the Bobcats are in buy-buy-buy mode and offering Ben Gordon's expiring. They were includnig Kidd-Gilchrist in these deals as a sweetener before he got injured.

Golden State-on a much smaller scale, GSW is looking to upgrade its bench and at the point. They don't have nearly as much to offer without blowing up their core, but if there was a time to go big, it would be now. Harrison Barnes still has a big enough name he could nab them a really nice package, but he's slowly falling into Iman Shumpert territory where he was an interesting prospect with tons of hype but just kind of fell off and hadn't really improved.

Sellers-

Milwaukee Bucks-big time sellers this deadline. Looking to off-load Gary Neal, Luke Ridnour and potentially Ersan. I'm expecting a few smaller moves-Neal is definitely going to get traded and hoping to get something for expirings of Ridnour and Udoh. I wouldn't mind holding onto Ersan for now. His trade value is at an all time low right now. Don't sell him off for expirings and a shitty pick. There's been some rumblings that OJ could be on his way out after he's gotten a few weeks worth of DNP's with a "flu" when he has been on the bench the whole time and doesn't seem all that sick.

Detroit Pistons-you could put them in either category. They could trade Smith, Monroe or Stuckey, but would be looking to get pieces back for a playoff push.

Philadelphia 76ers-apparently offering everyone and anyone not named Noel and MCW. I would be surprised to see them keep Evan Turner and Thad Young after they have been tossed around more than a whore in a German brothel.

This is rounding up to be one of the weakest deadlines ever. A few deals seem close, one is imminent, others are stalling, so who knows. We could get one or two or a whole rash of them. I see some chairs shuffling on the Titanic type deals coming.

One trade that IS happening: Brooklyn sends Jason Terry, Reggie Evans to Sacramento for Marcus Thornton-

I understand Marcus Thornton has been bad. Real bad. But he's still young(er). And they're taking back a horrendous Jason Terry contract where Terry has been bad for awhile. Evans is a fine player, he has his place, but on a bottom three team in the league in his 30's? What's the motivation for Sacramento? Stick with what you've got, hope Thornton gets better and if not, he's a large expiring next year. As for Brooklyn...they're about to make a weak frontline even weaker. Albeit, they're getting a deeper bench in the backcourt.

Knicks, Clips discussing deal where Shumpert, Felton are sent to LAC for Collison + piece-

The Knicks are desperate for an upgrade at PG that they are throwing package of Shump and Felton at anything and see what sticks. There was rumors yesterday of them getting Jeff Teague, looks like those all fell through and are now pursuing 20-something, journey-men, back up PG's. He has benefited from a great situation in LAC with tons of shooters and high flying big men around, what kind of PG wouldn't enjoy that? He would get exposed for his weaknesses again in NY-bad at creating his shots and can't finish, horrific defender, not the best offense-runner. And the Knicks are doing it at the expense of Shumpert. That "piece" they're trying to get to include is Reggie Bullock so they get their own asset in return, but seems that's the hang up and the Clips want to include Matt Barnes.

Bucks did end up offloading Neal and Ridnour to Charlotte for Ramon Sessions and Jeff Adrien. Why not draft picks, Milwaukee?

They actually have 4 draft picks already for this upcoming draft. Sessions and Adrien are both expiring, so now they'll have 4 spots open before the draft.

They needed the players to make the salaries work.

Bucks trade Gary Neal, Luke Ridnour to Bobcats for Ramon Sessions, Jeff Adrien-

-Sessions is an expiring contract. They get themselves out from Neal's contract which would run for at least one more season. Ridnour and Adrien are both expiring. Love this for Milwaukee. I'm hoping this pushes Knight to more of a 2-guard role where Sessions and Wolters run the point. I can only imagine that's what is being seen by the FO, because Nate has been fantastic lately. If this pushes Nate deeper to the bench though, then it was a pointless trade. I like Sessions game, he could be a good mentor for Nate. It'll be interesting to see how he's handled this summer. Will they bring him back on a cheap deal and split time at PG with Nate if they draft a non-PG? I wouldn't be against it.

Still insanely disappointed Caron Butler is still around. I can't stand a single minute that MF'er steps onto the court. They better not be positioning themselves to re-sign him. If they do, god help us all.

Pacers acquire Evan Turner from Philly for Danny Granger-

-Deal is Turner and Lavoy Allen to Indy for Turner, 2nd round pick. What a fuckin' haul for Indy. They'll likely let this play out and won't re-sign Turner, unless he performs well and he becomes a cheaper option than Stephenson this summer as they are both free agents. I don't have a clue why Philly does this outside to tank harder. Clearly, Turner was unhappy in Philly, but my god, I thought they could've gotten something better than Granger who hasn't played a meaningful productive minute in several years. Indy is odds on favorite IMO to win it all now.

Philly trades Spencer Hawes to Cleveland for two 2nd round picks-

-I'm so happy to not be a Cavs fan. What a disaster of a franchise. They've used potentially five draft picks to acquire Luol Deng, who is ALREADY unhappy in Cleveland and won't re-sign, and a free agent this summer in Hawes. They're just throwing darts at a board hoping one sticks. As for Philly, they're just selling off massively for an assload of cap room and some crappy picks. Looks like they're full on the COMPLETE tear down and re-build to build entirely around MCW, Noel, their 14' 1st rounder (likely top 3) and cap room. Not a bad move, just thought they've sat on assets too long and squandered some assets.

Clippers trade Jamison to Hawks, BJ Mullens to 76ers-

-Clippers are creating roster spots by trading little used Antawn Jamison to ATL and Mullens to Philly. Neither have contracts that will affect either team adversely. Looks like LAC is positioning themselves for buyout candidates as they couldn't make any moves via trade and have been short handed recently due to injury.

Wizards trade for Andre Miller in 3-team deal-

-Wizards acquire Andre Miller, Nuggets will receive Jan Vesely while 76ers receive Eric Maynor, two 2nd round picks. Here's where Philly did well for themselves. They got into a trade where they took Eric Maynor in the deal and acquired two 2nd rounders (14' and 16'). Miller's a good veteran presence for Washington and could help them short term. Vesely has been massively disappointing but has been showcased lately for a trade and hasn't been all that terrible. He's an expiring contract as well.

-Orlando Magic buyout Glen Davis-

-Fan non-favorite Glen Big Bay Davis has been bought out by Orlando. He was scheduled to earn $6.5 mill this yr and next. I'm 99% positive he goes to LAC as they made moves to open roster spots and need an extra big. This will move Tobias Harris likely into a bigger starting role.

Orlando is right on their way...tons of young guys and a top 5 pick coming in. They gotta keep on the tank though. Joel Embiid is exactly what they need. A big who can board and block shots. Vucevic is a mammoth inside rebounding but he's a bad rim protector. Add Tobias who is an undersized 4, it spells disaster for their interior defense.

Surprised by the move, but happy. I was so fearful we were looking to keep him around and "honor" him with a 3 yr extension to keep him in the hometown, especially with the 1 good game out of every 5 he delivered. I swear I saw a 3 yr, $15 million extension coming. Maybe Hammond is coming around. And now when Wolters got the start pushing Knight to the 2, maybe this team is coming around. It's clear that Larry Drew isn't really calling the shots with the lineup. No coach in their right mind would have like 26 different starting lineups in 50+ games.
