Should be a great game at Holmen tonight. Ballcoach1, a question for you. So if Holmen wins tonight, clearly they win the MVC with an 11-1 record, with Onalaska in 2nd at 9-3.

However, should Ona win, thus both Holmen and Ona finish 10-2, why does the media say they share the MVC title, when Ona would have beaten them 2-0 head to head? Wouldn't that be a clear championship for the Hilltoppers?

To the best of my knowledge the MVC doesn't look at head to head when determining a conference champion, they just recognize both teams. Bragging rights by fans can and will trump this, however.

I think most conferences are going just by records anymore - no matter the head to head results. And for me, that is ok. There is no real reward - other than calling yourself the conference champ. It has no impact on the post season like what happens in the NCAA tournament or NBA.

To the game - Onalaska seems to be playing better over the past few weeks. They are putting up some points and their shots are falling. Overall, I would say Onalaska has better talent, but in the MVC this year, the teams with the most talent have not always won the games they should. If the game gets to the 60's - Onalaska should win. If it is in the 40's - that is to Holmen's advantage.
