How about some other discussion? This off-season free agency has been ridiculous so far.

-CB Darrelle Revis is released by TB, signed by NE for 1 yr, $12 million deal-NE quickly makes up for the loss of Aqib Talib by signing Revis. I like the deal, it's kind of a, "what have you done for me lately," deal so Revis can show he can stay healthy and get back as the best free agent.

-New Orleans signs FS Jairus Byrd to 6 yr, $56 million deal-how in the hell NO can get this done is beyond me. They have cut a couple of guys and will likely trade Darren Sproles, but before this they could barely even imagine signing Jimmy Graham. Graham was really unhappy and expressed it publicly after he wasn't getting long term money, then they cut some guys and he got more pissed, I imagine this is the icing on the cake handing off a giant contract like this.

-Ravens sign LT Eugene Monroe to 5 yr, $37.5 mill deal-Baltimore gets their long term LT they've been looking for since Bryant McKinnie aged and was traded.

-TB signs DE Michael Johnson to 5 yr, $43 mill deal-Bucs really putting an emphasis on defense this off-season and paying big. Johnson, Lavonte David and Dashon Goldson make up a scary good D. Still need to work on their offensive mess.

-Bears sign DE Lamarr Houston to 5 yr, $35 mill deal-not a fan of this. I think Houston is really underrated and was one of the only effective pass rushers in Oakland so he got doubled on. The Bears cut Julius Peppers, but got younger with Houston.

-Arizona signs LT Jared Valdheer to 5 yr, $37.5 mill deal-the revolving door of LT's this off-season, teams let their LT's go to sign other guys.

-Miami signs LT Brandon Albert to 5 yr, $47 mill deal

-Bucs sign CB Alterraun Verner to 5 yr, $26 mill deal-again, bolstering the D. They're going to be very good against the pass and rushing the passer. Again, offense is a mess though.

-DEN signs Demarcus Ware to 3 yr, $30 mill deal-just call it now. Ware, Von Miller, Knighton...yikes.

-DEN signs CB Aqib Talib to 6 yr, $57 mill deal-HOLY SHIT. I mean, I like Talib. Big, physical, fast...but 6 YEARS, FIFTY-SEVEN MILLION DOLLARS!

-DEN signs SS TJ Ward-the rich get richer.

Oh, duh...

Lions sign Golden Tate to 5 yr, $31 million deal-honestly, Tate is a perfect #2 to Calvin Johnson and was actually a really good signing by the Lions. Fits the mold they've been looking for. I think Tate is going to rank right up there in a few years as GB's most hated player to play against.

Denver is going all in and with those long term deals, is pushing money way out. You thought the packers gutted the roster bad a few years back, wait until Manning retires next year. That team is gonna be full of rookies. DEN is going all in, and the consequences be damned.

Can't blame Denver for going all in. Manning only has a couple good years left in him as he is getting up there in age. If going all in results in a Superbowl win, then it will all be worth it. I am sure they win the Superbowl in the next three years. They got there last year and have vastly improved their defense. Not to mention they get Von Miller back as well. I also would be shocked if Talib is on the Broncos roster for more than three years.
A Playoff will be much more fair than the BCS.
No matter what happens, Rodgers GREATER THAN Favre.

I hate how lauded all the teams that spend $200 million in free agency are. Perfect example was the Jets in 2010 (I think) and the Eagles when they spent a bunch of money for their "dream team" and Miami and Atlanta last year. I don't particularly recall any team that spent huge in free agency and won because of it. Don't get me wrong, I don't have the TT rose colored glasses on, I see weaknesses in his plan and think the occasional impact free agency doesn't hurt, but I'm glad we don't go out spending like bandits every other summer and the opposite summer having to restructure contracts or cut key players and piss everyone off. What I like about GB, is if you're a Packer, you're going to get yours and you can expect loyalty from the organization.

All that said, I wish we'd make a play for Wesley Woodyard.

Accidentally posted this in different thread originally: Sproles traded to Philly for a 5th-round pick.

Supposedly the Jets are making a push for him. He's not going to be a day 1 or day 2 free agency guy anyway. He'll get looks much stronger next week.

-Raiders have now recanted their contract signing of Roger Saffold. They originally gave him a 5 yr deal, but claim when they got him in for the physical, their doctors found he needed immediate shoulder surgery, so they took back their offer. The Rams (Saffold's last team), took him back with open arms stating he passed their end of the season physical with flying colors. They were so confident in doing so that they offered Saffold a 5 yr contract which he accepted.

-Darren Sproles is on the trade market, the Redskins are apparently most interested. He's a game changer and huge change of pace guy. Not so much an every down back due to his age and bumps he's taken over the years, but still a lethal weapon, especially for a team like the Redskins who need a spark into their offense.

-Jared Veldheer (recent signing by the Cardinals), is an absolute monster- http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/oakland-raiders-tackle-jared-veldheer-muscles-top-muscles-151345408--nfl.html

-Eric Decker receives 5 yr, $36 million deal from Jets-Peyton Manning to Geno Smith...literally, first to worst. I doubt he even gets through year two of that contract.

It sounds like the Seahawks are going to get Henry Melton and that really disappoints me. He was one of the best players in the league at DT pre-injury, and he's probably going to be available for a bit of loose change because of uncertainty whether he can return to form. He would have been a great risk for the Packers to take, especially if they're running a few more traditional 4-3 sets this year as rumored.

There are very few teams that understand how to effectively use Free Agency, and the Packers are one of them. TT has an excellent strategy for it, when people say it has "weaknesses" I can only assume they're referring to the fact that it makes them personally uncomfortable. The goal in the NFL is to sign players for less than they're worth, and Free Agency is the hardest place to do that unless you're the Patriots where guys will take slight pay cuts to play for you.

WR Greg Little cut by Browns, claimed by Raiders. Shocked the Browns did that after Josh Gordon was suspended and will likely be gone most, if not all of the season. So the Raiders traded for Matt Schaub, signed Austin Howard (although like Valdheer walk), Justin Tuck, Lamarr Woodley, James Jones, Donald Penn, Carlos Rogers, Maurice Jones-Drew, now claimed Greg Little and drafted Khalil Mack.
