Was going to mention this yesterday...I thought Urban Meyer clearly should've won B1G COY honors over Jerry Kill.

It just shows you how everyone views the Minnesota program. You have an okay season and are coach of the year.

Surprised to see Wisconsin so poorly represented on both the coaches and media First Teams for defense despite these rankings nationally...

Yards Allowed: 1st (Tied)
Passing Yards Per Game: 2nd
Rushing Yards Per Game: 8th
Yards Per Carry Allowed: 4th (Tied)
Points Allowed: 4th

They had as many selections to the Coaches First Team as Maryland and didn't have a single representative on the Media First Team, yet Maryland had one and Minnesota had 2 (3 if you include the punter).

Looks like I completely jinxed and overestimated the capabilities of Wisconsin's defense, yikes!

I hate Urban Meyer and think he's a scumbag, but the fact he didn't win coach of the year while Kill did is absolutely ridiculous.
The Packers/Badgers/Brewers are like your children; you don't love them because they're good, you love them because they're yours.

Kill did an amazing job this season in Minneapolis. He has a lot less to work with than other programs and he turned the Gophers into a contender in the Big Ten. Being named COY by both the coaches and the media is no fluke nor injustice IMO.

Minnesota was not a contender in the Big Ten. Urban Meyer was robbed because success is expected at Ohio State and ****** is expected at Minnesota.

This has been talked about every year. COY is always going to go to the guy who exceeds expectations, never to the guy who maintains the status quo. Ohio State was supposed to win, they did. MN was not supposed to win, they did. Choice becomes simple.

As was stated on twitter over the weekend, don't pay attention to post season awards. Scoobie Wright will probably win The Bednarik award for DPOY, however he is not a candidate for the Butkus award which is given to the best LB in college football.

No that doesn't make sense, none of the awards do. Definitely not worth getting worked up about.
@2GuysFromWI

Harbaugh will have Urban Meyer retired from OSU by 2020.

I don't have a problem with the award essentially being the "Coach of the Most Improved Program" award in other years, but:
A) Minnesota won one more game this year than last year in the conference.
B) Meyer still managed to get OSU into the playoffs after they lost two quarterbacks to injury.

Essentially we are saying a coach at the helmet schools in the conference will never win the award. It's a running joke that Kirk Ferentz has won the award three freaking times.

So in your opinion, is the team's coach who wins the 'final 4' playoffs the ONLY coach 'worthy' of "Coach of the Year"
in D-1 football?
I would have been shocked had Kill NOT won the award. He has done an amazing job there and Minnesota beat
Iowa and Nebraska - also nearly beat both Wisconsin and gave Ohio State a run. Minnesota had a bad loss
early in the year but Kill turned things around and made Minnesota a tough team to beat.
I am not a Minnesota fan, but this COY award was fully deserved by Kill.
COY award should go to a coach who actually accomplished a lot more than expected.
No one expected Minnesota to be in a position to win their conference in the final against Wisconsin.
No one expected Minnesota to give OhioState perhaps its toughest Big 10 game.
I take your post as meaning that 'if' a team isn't a contender, then a great coaching job means squat.
AGAIN - I am no Minnesota fan; but I give Kill credit for what he did. He deserved the COY award!
