Sent my app in yesterday for Spring Turkey. Remember, you have until the 10th.

I also bought two more boxes of .223 shells. I am thinking I am going to use them all on a bunch of coyotes. I hate coyotes. We have some VERY large ones on our property. I shared a pic of some of the bigger ones on Facebook. They are now to the point where they must be cross-breading with German Shepherds or wolves. I have never seen the fur so dark before, and I have shot my fair share of coyotes. I can guarantee the hides on the ones I showed on Facebook would fetch a pretty penny.

I saw 5 all season. 3 on opening day, but had no shot because it was right in the sun, and 2 on the second day 312 yards off and never even thought about shooting.

I did, however, see well over 100 Turkeys and about a dozen Grouse.

It brings up an important question: When will the Turkey hunting change? I propose they fall under small game and you can shoot 6-10 a day.

What's weird is they still have the same arcane lottery system for hunting slots, yet I think they are the only "big game" you can register via phone after harvest. []

Other things have kind of taken the focus off turkeys (and their population has exploded), but it's something that needs to be revisited. A bag limit of 6-10 a day would quickly decimate the herd (flock?), but they definitely need to increase the amount a hunter can take in any given season.

As for deer, saw a whopping total of four (most of the camp had far better luck seeing them than me)....all undersized, and by the time I decided to take one, they stopped showing up. Action was erratic, as was the weather and those two go hand-in-hand. On the bright side, I'm the only guy who didn't miss this year. [8d]

BTW, if anyone heard about the fatal vehicle/pedestrian hunter collision in Taylor County, it happened just down the road from us. Even saw the squad car fly by when getting out of the woods on Friday.

If I wasn't a law-abiding citizen, I'd gladly just sit back there and empty my shotgun into the flock when they came around, take what I wanted, give away what I could, and leave the rest for the Buzzards, Crows, Foxes, and Coyotes..... When they move into an area in late fall, they literally wipe it all out of any food that is left, and as an Avid deer hunter, and trophy Turkey hunter, that does not sit well with me.

With the way the weather is going, I think my days in the woods this fall and early winter are over, but I guess I can try to take a large Gobbler in the Spring.

There is close to a foot on Lake Onalaska. Caught a 27 inch Northern and a 32 inch Northern along with a couple of bass on Saturday.

Longball did you ever shoot any of those "coyotes" you had on camera? Interested in hearing about it if you did.

Going out Saturday. I have not seen any this winter. It's like they left completely.

LocaL State Trooper just called me to tell me he just watched a large BLACK wolf run onto our property. He tried to angle the squad to get it on the dash cam but it was too far up the hill. I had this one on camera a couple years ago. "Bigger than a german shepherd." Guess who is going hunting tomorrow morning?

My buddy got another big Bobcat on the trail cam last night in Grant County. I would post the picture if I knew how.

Havent you heard? There are none of those in this state. It was most likely a large house cat.

I have no idea how to post pics here, so if someone can tell me how, I'll do it.
