Glenwood City (12-1) vs. Black Hawk (13-0) (6) - Both great D7 teams, but GC has been here and has seen more offensive variety this year.

Darlington (12-1) vs. Shiocton (13-0) (1) - While it pains me to side with the Redbird faithful, I just got this feeling.

Lancaster (13-0) vs. Stanley-Boyd (13-0) (2) - Not convinced Lancaster is any better than last year's runner-up team. If the Orioles overcome the jitters, no reason they can't win.

Platteville (9-4) vs. Winneconne (8-5) (3) - I'm not sure who's hotter, but I'll go with the Wolves. Had great times in both towns, so whoever wins, I'll be happy for 'em.

Friday, 11/22

Monona Grove (13-0) vs. Greendale (13-0) (5) - MG can matchup with G'Dale in most spots, but the Panthers won't be denied.

Kimberly (13-0) vs. Oshkosh North (13-0) (7) - They're at the top of the "best team in the state" conversation for a reason.

Arrowhead (12-1) vs. Franklin (12-1) (4) - I'm inclined to lean towards the Sabers as having the "overall advantage," but I picked the Warhawks at the start of the playoffs and I'm sticking to them.

This is going to be fun. I'm hoping to attend the Darlington/Shiocton game and the Arrowhead/Franklin game, so if anyone's going, you should let me know. []

Thursday, 11/21

Glenwood City (12-1) vs Black Hawk (13-0) (3) - Glenwood City is one of the best D7 teams in the state and dominated last year en route to a state title. They have one of the best run games in the state led by Tuttle and have something like almost 70 rushing touchdowns. I know Black Hawk is an exceptional team, and they also possess a little more of an aerial attack because of Heath Butler, but I think GC will pull this one off and win their second state crown in a row.

Darlington (12-1) vs Shiocton (13-0) (1) - I have a feeling this could be one of the greatest state title games of all time (we're talking up there with the Lancaster state title game in '11). Both teams have great offenses, and Shiocton has the additional note of how good their defense is. Definitely the best that the Redbirds have faced all year long, but their offensive line controlling the LOS is what separates DHS from SHS. I think the line of Darlington will do that and that's what allows the Redbirds to bring the SWAL a state titlist.

Lancaster (13-0) vs Stanley-Boyd (13-0) (4) - Stanley-Boyd is an exceptional team and shows they have a lot of grit and resolve after being down early on to Amherst, but battling back and winning in Level 4.... but Lancaster is making their third straight trip to Madison and methinks that experience coupled with two straight silver balls will be enough fuel to fire up the Flying Arrows to victory.

Platteville (9-4) vs Winneconne (8-5) (5) - This has the makings of a classic. I'm not sure if this is the highest combined total of losses in the state football finals history, but I can definitely say that both teams picked a good time to peak. Platteville seems to just have more on offense than Winneconne, but the Wolves proved that defense is their calling card in holding down Nekoosa's and Somerset's high-powered attacks. Platteville has quietly gone pretty strong through the playoffs, and ever since they upset River Valley in Week 9 of the regular season have been playing with fire and resolve. RB William Cooley is a standout and will prove the be X-Factor in the Hillmen's win.

Friday, 11/22

Monona Grove (13-0) vs Greendale (13-0) (2) - MG has proved me wrong; I figured they would fold against CMH, but they have yet to do that. I think if there's a time for that to happen, it will be in Camp Randall when the high powered Greendale Panthers come to Madison. Ringelberg is one of the best junior signal callers in Wisconsin, and I think his play will be what guides Greendale to victory here.

Kimberly (13-0) vs Oshkosh North (13-0) (7) - Oshkosh North has been living off of Neveau-to-Radke all postseason long, but Kimberly is easily the best team in the state, IMHO, regardless of division. They way they simply destroyed Homestead was all I needed to know. North puts up a fight early, but Kimberly bears down and wins the most lopsided game of the state finals.

Arrowhead (12-1) vs Franklin (12-1) (6) - Arrowhead won last year with their offensive attack. This year, the defense will be what shuts down McGuire (who still is a stud in his own right). If U of A does that, then there'll be no problems and the Warhawks will celebrate their second state title in a row and send this truly gifted senior class out with a bang.

Glenwood City (12-1) - 6 vs Black Hawk (13-0)

Darlington (12-1) - 7 vs Shiocton (13-0)

Lancaster (13-0) - 5 vs Stanley-Boyd (13-0)

Platteville (9-4) - 4 vs Winneconne (8-5)

Friday, 11/22

Monona Grove (13-0) vs Greendale (13-0) - 3

Kimberly (13-0) - 2 vs Oshkosh North (13-0) - Looking at the teams that qualified final four and now State Football Championships, both Mukwonago and North must have some incredibly talented athletes at key positions to make such a statement for both Hoops/Football, but Kimberly has been awfully impressive.

Arrowhead (12-1) - 1 vs Franklin (12-1) - Arguably the best Linebacking group in the state. C8 all the way.
