Oops, posted this on the other thread first. But I'll post it here instead.

OPOY: Kasey Kruse, QB, Menomonie
DPOY: Jake Sullivan, LB, Chippewa Falls
Coach of the Year: Adam Kowles, Hudson

A few surprises. Probably the biggest being Kraft second team and Berend, Sonsalla and Leis first team. I thought Nyland would be a first teamer (the only Memorial player on first team was McCoshen as punter). Also thought Larson would be DPOY. Obviously, as a Rice Lake player, I disagree with LBs Max Loew (76) and Trevor Kiehl (5) being second teamers and not first team, but I'm really happy for my teammates who did make first team--especially Hargrave and Ferguson on the OL.

Also, three underclassmen made the Offensive and Defensive teams: Brad Huemphner (1st team, RB, CF), Mario Stephens (2nd team, OL, CF), and Nick Didier (2nd team, OL, Menom).

Glad to see Kowles as coach of the year, well deserved definatly has program headed in right direction. I'm a little suprised Hudson only had 2 kids on 1st team Def. As dominant as their D was could have been couple more. Both made all region as well along w/Cunningham on the OL. Of course I'm biased but Vinzant could have been a 1st teamer at LB and also Dinauer on DL. I'm suprised Bowe from Chip did not get any recognition. I know some of the Hudson OL and was told he was one of the best DT they faced. I know Hudson had some HM's will they publish those names? I'm sure all those selected are deserving, but can't help but wonder if their are some politics involved. Must be tough to chose as a coach who really only sees each team once.

A little disrespect to Hudsons D that dominated the conference play, that Superior gets 3 guys to Hudsons 2 on first team D while they gave up 25 pts to memorial and 34 to north, compared to 3 and 14 for Hudson. I agree with Mr mike that Larson could have been dPOY, but Sullivan was a deserving pick as well. Also surprised that Dinauer from Hudson didnt make first team, he was definitely one of the 4 best d linemen that I saw in the conference

When I found out Loew was a 2nd teamer (Sunday) I assumed it had to be Vinzant on 1st team giving him the boot. Also, I think the problem for the DL is that there were many really dominant D-Linemen. You could make the case for either Dinauer or Nyland on the first team. And no Chippewa D-Linemen surprised me a lot. I know the O-Linemen I talked to thought highly of the interior guys.

But a lot of team have gripes for this team. There were a lot of talented players this year, especially in the Defensive front-7s.

i completely agree, but they were the best single players on their sides of the ball.

I don't know about that. That seems a little disrespectful to Kruse, who was an incredible passer and who orchestrated the best offense in the conference. Huemphner was very good, but I thought Kruse definitely deserved it.

The best player is the best player regardless of team or who else from that team is awarded whatever. Thats where the politics enter in. Its to bad.
I may have a short memory but I do not remember a year where in a team with a losing record had more all conference selections than the team that won the conference.

I would think it would be tough to have the offensive POY and defensive POY both from a team that was under .500 in conference play

I agree I think hudson who won a share of the conference really got ripped off. The majority of the selections should have gone too either Hudson or Menomonie, but their pick of Kowles for the coach of the year was a good pick.
