IMO, this game is all about the badgers. Minnesota is what they are, a slightly above average team that has benefited from an incredibly weak schedule.  Whether the badgers win or not will depend on which coaching staff/coordinators show up. Will it be the conservative, complacent, bury your head in the sand game plan that’s become way too common over the last couple of years? Or will it be the aggressive, loose, creative, attacking style that the badgers show glimpses of and look really good doing it. If it’s the latter, I expect the badgers to take control and roll. But if it’s the former, it’ll be another disappointing Saturday.

A definite revenge game given the absolute debacle that was last year.

Fleck, by hook or by crook, will have his team fired up and ready to go from the get-go. Given the Badgers penchant for sleep-walking into games I have worries that they can do the same. Minny has a lot to play for and given they haven't been "here" before, maybe the Badgers can use that energy against them?

I just have a hard time seeing Wisconsin slowing down Minny's offense. That may go both ways, but with the Badgers penchant for turning it over a bit too much, I have concerns they can outscore the Gophers.

Also, as far as I'm concerned this game is a referendum on Chryst and just what the potential of the program is under him. I expect a dud. 😞

I concur with your concerns & cynicism, Riseagainst & DB11. I believe it's difficult to have followed the Badgers football program throughout the Alvarez era (Alvarez, Bielema, Andersen & Chryst) and not come away with a pulse for the program that is echoed in your comments, above.

Badgers' Injury Report:

Junior left tackle Cole Van Lanen and cornerback Faion Hicks were listed as questionable on Monday’s status report with head injuries. Van Lanen didn’t play last week against Purdue; Hicks was injured in the second half against the Boilermakers.

Injury Update:

UW won’t be coming into the Minnesota matchup at full strength in the secondary.

Cornerback Faion Hicks was listed as questionable on Monday’s status report. Safety Reggie Pearson is dealing with shoulder issues that flared up after a hit he put on Hopkins in the second half against Purdue, and safety Collin Wilder will be out for the first half against the Gophers after being flagged for targeting last week. Cornerback Rashad Wildgoose also was nursing a heel injury that had him wearing a walking boot as a precaution this week.

That leaves Caesar Williams, Deron Harrell and Donte Burton as the healthy cornerbacks with the most experience, and Burrell, Pearson and redshirt freshman John Torchio as the safeties.

Defensively, all they can hope for is bad weather at this point.

And hopefully that brings a stiff wind also.  With the Badgers typically giving up big chunk plays in the pass game, maybe the best defender today will be a 30 mph wind.  Today's game for me has a strange feeling to it.  If the Badgers win, that sets up going to Indy and having Ohio St. hanging a 30+ point loss on the Badgers and that will be painful to watch - again.  A loss - we will have to listen to the Goph fans and the talk of PJ's boat rowing is a nauseating thought.

For me and this is kind of hard to say - but I think the Badgers would have been better off if Minnesota had beaten Iowa and today's game was meaningless in terms of conference standings.  Hear me out - if that had happened and the Badgers were to win today, they would be 10-2 and in line for a top tier New Years bowl.  There would be a positive feeling around - at least fan wise - about this team and the state of the program - heading to play maybe Auburn or even Georgia in Florida on New Years day.

And, if they were to blow out Minnesota and the Gophs were to go on and get hammered by Ohio St in the Championship game, which would happen, I have seen scenerios were the Badgers end up in the Rose Bowl.  Yes Penn St. may have something to say about it, but it isn't out of the question the Badgers would be picked over them with a win today.  Most likely, the Badgers would be ranked higher after a road win vs. the #8 ranked team.

If only's and what if's though are always fun.

What if Bucky gets blown out today?

Do they get Air Force in the Pecan Bowl?

Cause it's on and Minny looks serious and Bucky don't!👹

Badgers got the lead on Minnesota, 10-7, at halftime. Wisconsin looks like they found a way offensively to hammer away on the Golden Gophers with the run. I don't know if anyone here is watching ABC's broadcast of the game, but there was an interesting fact noting that Minnesota has yet to win a game when trailing after halftime with Fleck as the coach (either 0-13 or 0-14).

Not the prettiest half of football, but a 10-7 lead.  Every time Minnesota drops back to pass I hold my breath that one of the receivers isn't running all by himself down the middle of the field or a pass interference call happens.  I wish they would give some help over the top, but that isn't the m,o. of this team.  The conditions are a factor and they aren't going to get any better.  Just don't turn it over.  Put the wildcat in the back pocket and stay aggressive.

A-I don't like P.J. Fleck, just the way he looks, kinda like Baron Corbin, a snot nose wise azz.
But that's just me.
B-Sum-beech, somebody woke the Badgers up!

Sweet!

C-Seeing all these gophers dragged off the field reminds me of a Nat Geo show about Yellowstone park where Badgers just destroyed gophers to where the scene was a Badger with a limp lifeless gopher hanging out of its powerful jaws!

D-Something really cool about watching Gopher fans crying!
Man up for criminy sakes!

Sweet!

Watching the Badgers take Paul Bunyan's Axe back was a wonderful sight.

So, lemme get this straight.

Chryst and Co. wait 'til awful conditions in November at Minnesota to unleash this passing attack?

Aight. 'Boiler Up' or something.
