There have been a ton of big games in conference so far...

Barneveld has established themselves as the best team
Ritschard is clearly the best player in the conference
The Six Rivers Shootout just took place...

And nobody has said a word. Where is everyone from Monticello? Barneveld? Juda? Black Hawk? Does anyone else out there own a computer?

Six rivers east is really weak from my opinion compared to last year..really down still good ball players out there though. but its just not the same without johnson and ritchards going at it
Monticello easily has the best 3 player combination but lack depth and other players to step up..ritchards is clearly the dominate force in the conference and is obviously player of the year at this point
Barnaveld having watched them played, i have to say they are overrated with the hype..obviously people from barnaveld will tell you they are so great but its just an opinion, i got monticello at home vs barnaveld and with kolasch gettin back into the flow of things it will be a different outcome

Hey! There's the smack talk that usually fuels people to post! I agree with you that the Six Rivers is down. I think it has been on a downward trend since probably the 2004 year (I think). This was accentuated with Belleville and New Glarus leaving the conference.

I'm not sure Monticello easily has the best 3 player combination. They have the best player, clearly, but there are plenty of other formidable 3 player combinations you could choose.

Not sure how Barneveld is overrated or even "hyped" for that matter. They are barely in the rankings and have lost 3 games. The teams they lost to have a combined 5 losses. I'm not sure if this year's Barneveld team is as good as last year's team, although I think they have a good chance to get back to the same point, sectional finals. I don't think Monticello is nearly as good as they were last year. They lost some really talented players from last years team and simply have not been able to replace them. Getting Kolasch back to a healthy level will help Monticello tremendously when these two teams play again later in the year, but I'm not sure they have enough, especially on the inside, to stop Barneveld. Just my .02 cents tho...

Let's try and get this board out of hibernation: Besides Monticello, who would even be close to having as good of a top 3? Barneveld has a strong 5 but no one seems to shine, just solid and fairly deep. Monticello may have 3 of the top 5 players in conference (assuming Kolasch is healthy & my pick for POY next year). Barneveld definitely will be giving Monti trouble again with their size, but the game will be different than last time. Not only was it the first time Kolasch played in weeks, but I believe they may have been missing a jr guard as well who gets some descent playing time.

When was the last time there was such a clear cut Conference POY? Ritschard has a great shot at being a career 1,000 point scorer, which I don't believe has been done in Monticello since Dan Teasdale did it in the early 90s. He may have given LJ a run for his money last year, had Monti not been so deep.

Juda is a team to watch, they have some great young talent, but I don't know that they have enough to take on Monti or Barneveld. To be honest, Albany actually scares me a bit more. Doescher always seems to get a lot more out of his guys than what the talent shows. Detra is a physical player, but most impressive is Freshman, Isiah Shell, where did he come from?

Surprised by BH & Pec this year, thought they would be better.

I'm not saying Monticello doesn't have the best top 3 in conference, I'm not really making a pick, what I'm disputing is that "it isn't even close" or something similar to that. I think there are teams that could put together a top 3 that gets close to Monticellos...Barneveld and & Juda would be two that come to mind.

I think the last time there was a clear cut favorite for POY was when Nick Allen was playing for Barneveld. His junior and senior years there was no question who it was going to be. Speaking of him, he is finishing up his career at UW-Platteville this year and leading them in scoring.

Juda is clearly the 3rd best team in conference. They played Monticello a lot closer than they did Barneveld. Barneveld destroyed them in Juda which was surprising to me, but maybe it shouldn't be. Of the teams I have seen this year, I think they are the best team and I don't know if it is really that close. They have more depth and balance than any team in the conference as well as a variety of people that can score 10+ points a game. I'm not saying that Monticello can't beat Barneveld because I think they can in Monticello if Kolasch gets healthy and plays well. I probably get some flack for that opinion, but that's what I believe based on what I've seen from the teams in conference.

I have been very surprised by Pec and BH this year. I'm not sure what has happened to both of them. Albany may have some good young players coming up so maybe we'll see a resurgence from that program.

WKOW reports that Juda beat Monticello boys tonight.

WKOW was wrong Monticello beat Juda.

The Monroe Times has a pic from the game and it looks like Juda's home jersey's are white with blue writing. can anyone tell me if its really blue because that's def. not their school color.

Maybe its just the lighting? That would be pretty interesting if it really was blue.

Monticello did win at home but were it really counts they just couldn't pull it off. Barneveld is apparently the better team in the SRE because they won 2 out of the 3 games against Monticello. They choked down in Monticello but thats fine they have the Regional final plaque. Barneveld isn't overrated idk why you think that they play good teams but they are just simply better i hope they make it far it will give the SRE a better rep.

Where did anyone say that?

This thread is rather dated. I believe Barneveld has proved what kind of team they are this year and I don't think anyone is saying they are overrated.
