Before chastizing Spivey any more on his strikeouts, maybe you should compare his numbers to Weeks so far. In 28 at bats, Weeks has 10 k's already. He strikes out at a rate of over 35%. Spivey, while a Brewer, had 182 ab's with 57 strikeouts which is a tad above 31%. Not much of a difference there. Plus, Spivey played much better defense. I know Weeks will turn it around, but just thought I would point it out. Spivey has 0 errors in the 9 games with Washington but has stayed consistent in his k's.

I can see the upside in Weeks, but I think he is a tad too aggressive at the plate. He sports a 420 OBP, but I think if he'd work just a bit more on pitch selection he could get some more hits. His k's have to stop though as he is looking a lot like Jenkins and Spivey.

ok, yes Weeks does need some work. But, he is doing very well for a rookie up in the majors. Also, dont forget that we got Ohka out of that deal as well, so your kind of giving up a few errors on Weeks to get Ohka's pitching. Personally, I would take Weeks over Spivey any day.

Certain aspects I would take Weeks over Spivey. However, Weeks is going up there and free swinging. He should be reminded this is the big leagues and maybe cut down on the Sheffieldesque swinging. Spivey has more range than any second baseman in the game. He was quick and a great defender. 2x the defender that Weeks is. However, Weeks is still green and I like the potential. Just want everyone to stop ripping the guy because he struck out a lot and pointing out Weeks is not doing much better with the k's, which is why everyone wanted Spivey out.

Give Weeks some time and those strikeout #'s will go down. People were ripping on Spivey because he's a MLB veteran who's 28 (or so, not quite sure) and didn't strike out as much as this before. Weeks is almost 22 and already hits bette than Spivey did.

Also, I wouldn't say Spivey is that great of a defender either. He's better than Weeks is, but he had his fair share of ugly plays as well.

Spivey was a great defender. He has tremendous range and makes plays you won't see a lot of guys even getting close to making. Weeks should have 6 errors already. The offical scorers have been very kind to the rookie. I think he will do great in the majors. I just think he needs to be a bit more patient at the plate. Pitch Selection is KEY.

One big difference.

Weeks is a rookie!!! Spivey is not. Rickie Weeks has a future in this organization. Rookies learn by playing and making mistakes, as Weeks is doing and will continue to do. But in the end it will all be worth it...

Someone needed to tell Spivey that.
