MY Bad for not 'playing' last week.

For THIS WEEK:
Milton @ Reedsburg
Fort @ Oregon
EHS @ Monroe
Stoughton @ MG

Only one close could be Milton/Reeds

Reedsburg at home
Fort will WHOOP and keep rollin'
EHS easily
MG even more so

HUGE congrats to Fort on their great year so far. They should be 7-1 going into final w/ EHS at 6-2. I wonder how they will fair come playoffs.

How deep can they go in D2?
Same w/ MG?
EHS in D3?

These will be our ONLY three making this year, right?

Edgewood, Fort and MG will all roll by 21+. Reedsburg wil pull this one off against a weak Milton team.

And for the playoffs, Edgewood is a pretty good team and can make some noise depending on what their matchups are. Same goes for Fort. If they are seeded they can win a game or 2. MG has all of the tools to get it done this year and represent the Badger South with a state championship. Like the previous 7 years, it's gonna come down to them vs. Waunakee. Winner will probably win state.

Having seen both Waunakee and MG this year, no disrespect to MG, but I just don't see them making a deep run this year. Besch is good and Choate is A LOT better than anyone would have guessed, but I can't see them holding up against some of the stronger D2's that could stop their run game. Now, they haven't HAD TO do anything but smash it down all of our throats, but I gotta figure some of these teams can contain their run game. I hope they make a fool out of me AND go deep, but ... just my thoughts.

Won't see Fort til the last game, so won't begin to spout off against them at all. Again, GREAT for them on their success this far.

EHS ... their senior class has lived up this year and they have had great contributions from some key underclassmen. Playing Waunakee, DeFo and MG has given them some TOUGH experience that could help them win a few. Like you say, though, it's all about matchups they all get.

One tidbit looking ahead---much like like last year...tie breaker for likely MG/Waunakee playoff game...Home field is a bunch of tie breakers which came down last year to "Points given up in first half of games" Last year MG gave up 6 pts all year, but they were all in the first half...Waunakee gave up more, but only 3 were in the first half...This year Waunakee has given up 13, and MG has given up 14...Possibility of MG squeezing down to D3 (they almost did last year) and outside shot of Waunakee going D1(close last year) this year kind of stirs things up too...depends on who else makes playoffs-will come down to the last week of games like it did last year...

As far as playoffs, Fort has really impressed me this year. I know it seems like I am always defending the blackhawks, but they are always overlooked and have the talent to make a run in the postseason. MG is MG, but I agree with BertsDad about Waunakee being the better team. That will be a fun game to watch though as always.

As for Edgewood in D3, they have competed with both MG and waunakee for parts of games this year. Either of those teams would win the d3 title with ease, so it will be interesting to see how the crusaders stack up against the top d3 teams. But i think the skys the limit for edgewood.

If MG could knock off waunakee, theres a realistic chance of 2 Badger South state champions this year. Am i being too optimistic?

Gosh, that would be incredible if MG and Edgewood won state. It would be great. But honestly, yeah MG has a great shot at it if they put all of the pieces together, but Edgewood just isnt deep enough for a state title run. They are very talented and hang with just about anyone for a quarter or 2. But sometime in the second half they kinda fall apart and are worn down.

Again, I would love to see it happen and sure as hell hopes Edgewood proves me wrong, but i dont see it happening.

It's definately going to be fun to see how things play out this season! But MG has a very stout offensive line and they have a different offense from last season. If Waunakee does shut down their running game, Stassi will get creative and throw the ball around a bit. They have plenty of tools to do so and have shown in the past that they can throw it on Waunakee. The big key to me will be the 2nd half of the game. The past 2 yrs Mg was winning or tied going in to half. Then Waunakee makes some big adjustments and goes off on MG's defense. If MG can counter these adjustments from Pat Rice and his coaching staff, then MG can win that game.

And I totally agree with ur comment about Edgewood. They play tough competition all year long and if they get the right matchups in the playoffs they will cause some havoc.

I have been a HUGE EHS supporter for a long time ... having a kid play multiple sports (the ones I am always commenting on). Ya just never know what sort of pairings there are going to be ... and not to "bitc.." (complain) about WIAA AT ALL. MG will face Waunakee TOO EARLY and I just don't see them beating them. EHS will have to get thru a Catholic Memorial or WISCO early too. Agreed, I would LOVE TO SEE IT, but we just don't have enough quality games to make us as prepared for these teams. I REALLY HOPE I AM WRONG.

Agreed. Me personally, the best D2 state championship game would be MG Waunakee. To have that rivalry at Camp Randall and on TV. The state would enjoy that. Either way, when it comes down to it, the past 2 years the two best teams in D2 have been Waunakee and MG. Either way, these two teams will play each other this year in the playoffs and I am jacked for that game. One way or another I will have to make the journey to watch it live
