Track doesn't get a lot of chat here, but Brooke Jaworski (2miler posted some of her times from last year), a freshman at Wausau West, beat Suzy Favors 30 year old conference record in the 400meter dash in a time of 56.6

An impressive athlete to watch. Believe she's had even faster times during the year.

No doubt the next in a long line of WI female prep track stand-outs. I'm sure there will be many more records to fall at the hands (or legs) of Ms Jaworski, before she accepts her high school diploma in 2020.

Hope the Badgers are paying attention.

Congrats to Brooke !

Wow, that is awesome, thanks for posting this I will keep an eye on her. Remember this name. Grace Ping. She is a 7th grader in Winona, MN that is smashing HS records already. Remember, in MN, middle school age kids can compete at the varsity level. In her first "high school" race, she broke a school record and a track record in one of her races, can't remember if it was the mile or 2-mile.

Wausau West's Brooke Jaworski continued her impressive season at Monday's regional by winning the 400m race in 56.44 seconds(nearly 5 seconds ahead of the 2nd place runner), taking second in the 200m, and anchoring the winning 1600m relay. She looks like she'll be headed to LaCrosse in 3 events after Thursday's sectional.

Considering she's only a freshman and posting such impressive times in the 400m, I'd bet the farm that the Division 1 State 400m record(which can only be set at the state meet) of 54.82 seconds will be hers someday. The biggest obstacle might be the absence of an arch-rival that can push her to her limit for a quartermile.

Brings back memories of Kaukauna freshmen phenoms Brooke Novak & Christy Cazzola from the not too distant past.

Brooke Jaworski advances to the State meet with a 1st place finish in the 400m (55.49)(4.5 seconds in front of 2nd place) Looking at the other sectional qualifiers, she'll have at least 3 girls that ran in the 56's to push her to a possible State record as a freshman.

Also qualifies in the 200m(2nd) and 1600m relay(1st)

Stay tuned.

Broke the state record today by nearly half-a-second (a ton in a one-lap race) with a 54.33. Impressive kid.

Someday came today in 54.33. The farm was saved. She also took the 200m in 24.77.

Outstanding ! Congrats are in order for young Brooke Jaworski.

I will reiterate: I sure hope the Badgers are paying attention .... as some southern NCAA women's track power will otherwise swoop in and sign her to a track tender 3 years down the road.

Shout out to Grace Hartman from Wisconsin Rapids, who had a great season in the 200 and had beaten Jaworski all season, but finished 4th at State.

And is one of the better swimmers in the state -- in a sport in which girls in particular often feel compelled to swim year-round. Good to see a high-level swimmer excelling in another sport.
