Strong hunch each team scores less than 60 points in this contest.

In a battle of the country's #1 defense (Virginia ) vs the nation's #3 defense (Texas Tech),  I'm picking the Red Raiders, 57-54, in a mild upset over the Cavaliers.

Texas Tech has sold me on their hoops prowess.

I really like Virginia in this matchup. Both teams are extremely well coached and pride themselves on defense, as we know. I think the possibility of being without Tariq Owens (or very limited if he does play) to protect the rim will really hurt the Tech defense.

I trust the trio of Kyle Guy, Ty Jerome, and DeAndre Hunter over Tech's trio of Jarrett Culver, Matt Mooney, and Davide Moretti to generate more offense.

Virginia 61
Texas Tech 57

Very entertaining game and well played. It wasn't the rock fight that many thought it would be. UVA's highly efficient offense showcased itself against a great defense in Texas Tech. Watching Hunter and Culver battle was a treat as well.
