Steve Stricker just teed off. He's one back of Phil for the lead on Sunday at the US Open.

Nvm, two balls OB on 2 will end Stricker's chances. That was quick haha.

Unless something changes, looks like it is going to come down to who has the least amount of boxes on their score card at the end of the day. Boy, players are falling fast at the moment.

Give the trophy to Merion. This is ridiculous.

I like when course challenge golfers, but this was too extreme for me even.

It didn't even allow for an ounce of aggressiveness.

I thought the course was fine. the rough is part of the fabric of merion's playability. They have, I think, 3 different types of grasses growing in their rough that all tangle together. If you miss a fairway at merion you're screwed, that's kind of the deal.

I think the course worked out as well as it could have because they had rain earlier in the week to get the grass growing, and the drainage system in the course was excellent so they were still able to get the greens firm.

I think it was better than Olympic Club, anyway. At Merion they could at least hit balls into the fairway, Olympic has such undulation that they would hit balls in the left first cut that would roll down 10 yards into the rough on the right side of the fairway. that's not exactly playable
