Time for the starting pitching staff to settle in.

Time for others to start hitting. Between Braun, Moose, Shaw, Aguilar/Thames just not enough production. Braun has 0 BB in 44 AB's.

Who can stay awake to watch these west coast games?

it is very early obviously, but the slow starts for those middle hitters is impacting this team.  CC has to think of moving Grandal up into the middle of the order with him being one of the few that is making good contact.

The Dodgers will probably start Kershaw this weekend, so that will give them a lift.  The Brewers need to get a win in this series.

I hate those 9:10 starts.  An old man like me has a hard time making it past 10!!

Ditto and when the score is 0-6 or 1-3 after the early innings... good night.

It is early and nowhere near time to panic. I would just like to see some signs from some of the guys that have been cold.

Looks like Kershaw will not be activated until Monday.

No Kershaw is good news.  I just worry with the Dodgers offense clicking right now, this could be a rough series.  Getting 1 win might be the best case.

I seen where Jeremy Jeffress was only throwing about 91 in San Antonio the other night.  That is down quite a bit from last season, so that may not be the best news.  He reported no pain or discomfort, so the decrease in velocity seems odd.  No matter what the case, it doesn't appear he will slot right back into the back end of the pen.

I'll be at the Friday Night game. Hopefully that's the 1 win we can get while I am out here.

The velocity still being down is a concern for Jeffress. In Spring training, he was in the mid-80s so there's progress, but you wonder how far away he is.

For this series, I think the Brewers bounce back and take 2/3. The Brewers have given up a ton of fly balls and a very high HR rate. Playing in Dodger Stadium should help.

Not sure Dodger Stadium is going to help. LAD have some guys that hit HR's Bellinger, Muncy, Pederson and somehow David Freese will hit 1 too.

You're gonna have to take the L on this one as Burnes has surrendered three more bombs in four innings of work as he continues to, well...suck.

Not sure how much longer of a leash they can afford to give him, particularly if Peralta and Woodruff don't find a little consistency.

On the bright side the Brewers offense showed up (even scoring off Kenley Jansen for the first time ever) and the bullpen, while not dominant, was able to work around some trouble, which included a long 8th inning from Hader, to post 4 2/3 innings of shutout ball with Alex Wilson getting the final two outs.

Brewers got HRs from Grandal (3 for 4 overall) and Perez. Yelich also had a multi-hit night and Aguilar drove in two runs.

This was a good start for this series.  Nice to see 8 runs on the board for sure and a couple of the middle of the order bats showing a little life.  Grandal has been really good and I am happy to see CC putting him up in the order.

On the other side, Burnes continues to give up bombs.  Hopefully that is just something he is working through and not a habit.  Missing Knebel and Jeffress at the back end of the pen has really changed things.  Wilson for the most part has held up, but without that blow by pitch the others have, he has to work to contact and that is always playing with fire.  Jeffress should be back when they return to town, but all indications are that he isn't right and that is a huge worry.

Question I will pose out there is if we will see Zach Brown in the near future?  Is he able to fill that middle reliever role that Burnes and Woodruff benefited so much from last year?

A win tonight ensures a series win against maybe the best team in the NL.  That would be a good bounce back.

Zach Davies with a good seven innings of one-run ball and Junior Guerra with a six-up, six-down save as the Brewers take the second game over the Dodgers, 4-1.

Davies really seems to benefit from Yasmani Grandal's pitch-framing ability.

Mike Moustakas and Orlando Arcia homered, while Travis Shaw drove in two runs on a liner that just evaded Max Muncy at first.
