Had the privilege of witnessing one of the best High School duals I have scene in a long time last night. Perennial wrestling power Pulaski Red Raiders v. the upstart DePere Redbirds. The match came down to the last bout with DePere up 28 to 24. 152 for Pulaski stuck the DePere kid to take the win 30-28, and with the prior dual defeat of Bay Port, secured at least a tie for the FRCC Championship (as the FRCC doesn't have a conference tourney which is another matter).

The match was not without its controversy, at 145, the Pulaski Wrestler appear to get the pin in the last second of the 2nd period, but after a clock review, time was deemed to be expired. As a result the DePere wrestler was able to avoid the pin, and hang on for the tech fall. A lost point that may have proven huge, but for the result at 152. The 145 match was controversial from the start as the varsity DePere wrestler was a trainer scratch based on what appeared to be a skin infection, resulting in a JV wrestler engaging in the pivotal match.
Some hero's wear capes, others just hold the door!
