What a way to start the season!  Miller Park - American Field - whatever - it had to be electric there.  Road - excited yet??

Hader looked in mid season form.  2 innings and if the pattern holds true, he is now out tomorrow and maybe Saturday, although he only threw 20 pitches or so.  This is going to be a debatable item all season long if he remains the closer.

Chacin goes 5 1/3, giving up three runs (including two HRs), but strikes out seven, while also helping his cause with a single (scored on Yelich three-run HR) and a HR of his own. Mike Moustakas also homered for the Crew.

Kolten Wong homered twice for the Cardinals, but Josh Hader got the final six outs (4 strikeouts + LoCain HR robbery to end it) for the Brewers first Opening Day win since 2014, 5-4.

You never wanna read too much into one game, but I anticipate Milwaukee playing a boatload of games that go similar to this one this year.

Chacin's start, Yelich's HR, Hader's relief performance, and Lo Cain's HR-saving catch ... it seemed as if the Crew had taken a few days off and then stepped right back in where they left off last season .... suddenly it  seemed like September, 2018 all over again.

DB, I believe you meant the Brewers' first home opener win since 2014, as they won on Opening Day in San Diego last year.

Sure, if that's the case...lol...literally pulled that off a local media source's Twitter...shame on me for taking it as gospel. 😂

Cardinals take a 9-5 win behind three Goldschmidt HRs as it was not a banner day for either the Brewers pitching staff or the umpiring crew.

Men in blue & New York got the challenge on Cain's attempted steal of 2nd base wrong.  And, the 1st-base umpire missed the call at 1st base on Moustakas' one-hop relay on a potential double-play ball.

Brewers take the third game, 4-2, thanks to some early fireworks with Yelich homering again and Shaw and Moustakas (2-R) adding bombs of their own. Brandon Woodruff clawed his way through five innings giving up two runs, and then the Brewers bullpen of Guerra, Claudio, Wilson and Hader (immaculate inning in the 9th) shut the door on the Cardinals, allowing just one hit (a bunt single) and no other baserunners in four innings of work on just 45 pitches.
