Here's how I see the MVC race based on information early on:

1. Central - I see them winning this, but Onalaska will not be easy. In the end, Kobe is just too much
2. Onalaska - Only 2 losses will come to Central, wouldn't surprise me though if they get one from the Raiders though
3. Holmen - steep fall off from top 2, the Vikings have a couple very nice athletes and will play hard
4. Aquinas - lost some terrific front line players from last year's state team, but return very good guards
5. Logan - return 2 really good players, but lost so much to graduation and football focus kids
6. Tomah - will be much better than they have been, a developing big man in the middle will help
7. Sparta - all seniors on this team which will help them do better than last several years

Let's see how I did:

Central the class of the MVC, easy.
Onalaska clearly #2, although close game against Tomah a while back
Holmen is awful, I gave coach Blank too much credit, those kids aren't playing as hard or smart as I'm used to seeing
Aquinas is where I thought they would be, good shot at 3rd-5th place finish, brutal non-conf schedule
Logan is where we expected, right in the middle...good games and bad games
Tomah will end up where I predicted, although mid-season they looked to have turned corner, but clearly not
Sparta and the seniors look to finish out of the cellar, a vastly improved team

With 2 weeks to go, here's how I think it will finish

Central 12-0
Onalaska 10-2
Logan 5-7
Aquinas 5-7
Sparta 4-8
Tomah 3-9
Holmen 3-9

I know people are viewing this, wonder why nobody has any opinions to share? Here's how it looks with tonight being the final night of play and my final guesses as to how the games come out tonight. This has been a pretty predictable season in the MVC:

Central 12-0
Onalaska 10-2
Logan 6-6
Aquinas 5-7
Sparta 4-8
Tomah 3-9
Holmen 2-10

On to the playoffs. Everyone is D2 (but AQU) so only 1 of those teams can advance, and clearly that looks to be Central. Wondering how far AQU can advance, maybe the severe drop down to D4 will propel another deep run. I wouldn't put it past the Blugolds to win a few games, notably round 2 vs undefeated CFC team.

If Aquinas upsets CFC in the 2nd round, I see them advancing all the way to the Sectional final to play either Darlington or New Glarus.

Central seems to be one of the safest picks to get to Madison this year.

Agree on both your statements. Certainly D2 is Central's for the taking. Aquinas has a shot to beat CFC, but not much of a shot against Darlington if they get that far. Darlington is the team Aquinas beat last year to go to state.

Darlington is a deep, senior-laden team, which I typically lean towards when making predictions, but they almost got bumped by Mineral Point recently. They will likely have to beat them a 3rd time in the playoffs. If the sectional final rematch occurs, I would bet money on it coming down to the last minute. Darlington isn't going to show Aquinas anything they haven't seen before playing in the MVC.

Have you seen CFC this year?
