Mount Union (OH) saw it's 112-game regular-season winning streak come to a halt Saturday at the hands of John Carroll (OH), 31-28. The Purple Raiders are now 222-2 in the regular season since 1995, their only other regular-season loss coming at the hands of Ohio Northern in 2005.

Many national media outlets are incorrectly reporting the 222-2 record as including all games, including playoffs. Of course Mount Union has lost six D-3 national championship games to UW-Whitewater in the past 10 years alone.

As a one of the pollsters for the North Region Fan Poll over at D3boards, I was mildly surprised that John Carroll pulled it off. Not totally caught off guard because I thought in the back of my mind that the Blue Streaks had a really good shot of beating Mount. The question is how long will the Purple Raiders have to wait in order to get one of the six at-large bids into the Tournament.

Of interest for those around here..... UW-Oshkosh actually gave John Carroll their only loss of the season as the Titans beat the Blue Streaks 33-14 in the season opener for both teams.
