What are peoples thought on Marawood baseball 2010? Marathon looks like the team to beat. Will there be any sleeper teams?

1. Marathon- only lost 3 starters off of last years team. They should be solid once again.
1. Newman- only lost one starter who hit 8th in their lineup and played 2nd base.
3. Edgar- no seniors from a year b4 and plenty of offense.
4. Assumption- another good hitting team.
5. Stratford- lost a lot from last years second place team.
6. Auburndale- lost one senior. Return some solid, young pitching.
7. Pittsville- not the most talented team but with some athletes playing.
8. Northland Lutheran/WVL- Dahlke and Magnuson and that's just about it.

*Two numbers ones because I feel that they will share the conference title.

Pacelli is ranked 5th and Marathon is 8th in the State Rankings.

I think Marathon would beat them. Not just saying that because they are in the Marawood. The CWC-8 is actually the better conference in baseball. Both teams are equally coached. Both teams have great defenses. Pacelli has a better offense with Malnorey (spelling), Stroik, Jurgella, and Gramowski. Marathon has better pitching with Hanke and Blume. I'd give the edge to Marathon. Pitching over hitting.

It's a toss up, that is why they play the game. Marathon has had the edge the last 2 yrs over Pacelli but that doesn't mean a thing with alot of those players gone. The winner of that game has a clear path to Fox Cities Stadium however so there is alot on the line.

Marathon has won almost 40 conference games in a row, not sure on the exact number and Marathon will be tough to beat again with Hanke-Blume 1-2 punch on the hill.

Marathon 14-0
Newman 11-3
Edgar 11-3
Assumption 6-8
Stratford 6-8
Pittsville 4-10
Auburndale 2-12
N.L. 1-13

Assumption has its top 2 pitchers in terms of innings pitched comign back this year. They lost some quality players at SS and catcher, but if some young players can step up they could be a sleeper team. Many of their players playes summer baseball last summer which will only help.

Newman should finish high along right behind Marathon who will dominate again. They have such good program and are on a great run right now. After these two schools 3rd place could be wide open . Looking forward to baseball seaon and this warm weather will allow for the teams to get outside ealier than normal.

What do you consider top pitching? Their pitching this year is going to be average at best....also they only had 2 players on the junior legion team, and 1 or 2 on the senior team, and the kids on the junior team didnt even play that much, and Buntrock was the only one who pitched... they will finish around .500 in the conference this year, and WONT be a sleeper team sorry.

YOU NEED YO LEARN HOW TO READ BONDYPRIDE. I said top 2 pitchers in terms of innings pitched. I never said that they were STUDS last year. Assumption had multiple kids play in Vesper over the summer. There are more teams that play competative summer ball than Wisconsin Rapids Legion teams.

Also a sleep team doesn't mean win the conference. If Assumption gets good play from unknown players and finishes 3rd in the conference they in my book would be a sleeper team.

I think that this year is going to be a good one. As far as the South goes (I don't really know a lot about the North side of things) this conference is going to be a little bit more open than in years past.
Not a lot of teams lot of teams lost very many players. Marathon only lost three. But look at the 3 kids that they did lose. B. Blume, good lead off hitter that covered a lot of ground out in center. Krautkramer, hit second in the order behind Blume and did a lot of things both behind the plate and with his bat. Hamann, hit third in their lineup, probably their 2nd best hitter behind Hanke, a dominant pitcher, and if I'm not mistaken Conference POY.
This could be the year that somebody knocks off the Red Raiders.

Totally agree...Blume went on to play football at EC if im not mistaken, and I only saw Marathon play a few times but he made play after play in centerfield and he is fast as hell, what an athlete...Krautkramer was a great defensive catcher and his stick was average but a good leader behind the plate...Hamann went on to play at Stout and I believe he is just pitching there but im not sure and I looked at Stout's stats and noticed he is seeing time in the rotation over there and doing well. So yes they did only lose 3 guys but they lost 3 very high quality baseball players. Should be a little more open then the last few yrs but I still believe it will be Marathon winning conference. Main reason.....HC Steve Warren

Especially when you consider that their last loss in conference was to now Winona State then Abbotsford's Jamie Soyk. If not for him it would probably be a bit longer than 37.
