Illinois (10-16, 6-9)  58

Final Score

Bucky found a way to win after a miserable 1st half for the most part.  Big contributions from Brad Davisson (18 pts, 7 rebounds), Kahlil Iverson (16 pts, 9 rebounds) and Brevin Pritzl (6 pts, 10 rebounds).

Coach Gred Gard employed a new strategy (although he wouldn't admit it), sitting Ethan Happ with 4 minutes remaining in the game & the score tied.  Iverson & Nate Reuvers took turns effectively manning the low post and UW was spared Happ's free throw liabilities at the end of a close game.

In retrospect, Gard arguably should've initiated this strategy at the beginning of the Big Ten portion of the schedule.

I'm not sure if it was a new strategy or just the fact that Happ was awful last night. It's nice to win against a team that is playing very well right now when your best player plays his worst game of the season.

The B1G season is just a grind. I'll be excited when UW plays someone from outside the conference in the tourney. Speaking of the tourney, where are all the people that said UW wouldn't make the NCAA tourney this year?
