Do you think this will be the year Michigan beats Ohio State?   I have watched some of Ohio State's games and I am not impressed with them at all, especially their defense.  Playing them at Ohio State will make it harder for Michigan, but I dont see how Michigan doesnt win this game. When Ohio State lost to Purdue and gave up 49 points, I came to the conclusion this years Ohio State team is just not elite.  As you well know, I have no use for Harbaugh; but I think this may be Michigan's year.  It is nothing 'personal' with Harbaugh, but I just abhor coaches that are "rah-rah" boys. Pete Carroll and many others like him I cant stand either.

Dawgstyle,

What's going on in Ann Arbor? Two big-time defensive coaches defecting to Columbus?

---

Also, Jalen Hurts has placed his name in the transfer portal. He graduated in December and has immediate eligibility. Where does he end up? Auburn? LSU?

First let me be clear that I will am not trying to play this off like its not a big deal.

That being said. This is the 2nd time that Greg Mattison has done this to Michigan.  The year before they won their last NC, GM left them for ND.  This is the end of any relationship between Greg Mattison and the University of Michigan.  The man is now persona non grata.  He left because OSU made him Co DC and that was not going to happen at Michigan.  He is 70 years old.  Fantastic recruiter, great DL coach.  But his run is just about over.

Al Washington was a much bigger loss, but his leaving to OSU is no surprise.  Washington is an amazing recruiting and a rising star as a defensive coach.  That being said, he is close with Ryan Day.  They coached together at BC and I believe they played together or Washington played for Day.  Also, Washingtons dad played for Ohio State and he is from Columbus.  This defection was a concern in Michigan circles since his arrival.

How bad this is really depends on the replacement.  Harbaugh has had tons of coaching turnover since his arrival and has shown an ability to find and lure talent to AA.  If the replacements are solid, no worry.  If he swings and misses twice, it could be an even more steep hill to climb in the future.

Presumed PSU starting QB Tommy Stevens has entered the transfer portal.  Could make things interesting this year in Happy Valley.

I would love to see that program crash and burn for a multitude of reasons. Don't think it will however.
