After the teams traded turnovers to start the second half, Black Hawk goes on an 18-play, 63-yard march that chews up 9:54 of the 3rd quarter clock. Kyle Lovelace finished the drive with a 2-yard TD run and then threw to Schiferl for the two-point conversion.

What a drive

Black Hawk's next drive ends with a punt but chewed up 6 more minutes. On Edgar's ensuing drive, Will Raatz had a first down, but lost the ball and it was recovered by Black Hawk's Cayden Milz at the Edgar 39 with 2:21 left. Edgar has all three timeouts remaining.

Shocked on the slopiness of football being played. I don’t get a chance to watch these small schools play much since I come from a bigger school, but I still expected a much cleaner game. Slopiness is what I would describe it. Close to 10? Fumbles probably and numerous dropped balls. Edgar just made so many crucial mistakes

Final

Black Hawk tightened up the defense after some early struggles, and grinded out yards and was able to get just enough to out-last the Wildcats and their staunch defense. Nine fumbles (three lost, all by Edgar) and two INTs thrown by Black Hawk made for a sloppy game and certainly had an effect on things including one of the Edgar fumbles giving BH a very short field for one of their TDs.

Congrats to the Warriors!

Teams that return to Madison the year after losing in the championship game almost always win in their second try.

This was posted in the D6 thread about I-S, but seems fitting given Black Hawk's victory.

Never have I seen Edgar perform like that. That was almost painful to watch. Credit to Black Hawk for not hitting the panic button when Edgar went up 15-8 early on. Congratulations to the Warriors on an extremely impressive season.

It seems like a lot of D7 title games feature an inordinate amount of fumbles. The type of offenses often run at that level kinda lend themselves to that. Particularly if the weather goes south.

In what was an apparent surprise to most, Black Hawk looked like the team that had earned back to back trips to Camp Randall in the second half. Sloppy at times, yes, but a fun small school game. Congrats to Black Hawk!

Overall though congrats to Black Hawk on an undefeated season that they'll never forget! Having the smallest enrollment in the field makes it even more impressive. Have fun celebrating with that precious gold ball

As far as the sloppiness by both teams, it had to do with that both teams were doing a great job of attempting to strip the ball carriers.  I will say thou the last 2 fumbles by Edgar were more just trying to make a play without securing the ball.
