Just two Coulee teams remain in the post season, and they meet for a chance at the Sectional final game.

Eliminated Teams:
4. Westby: 0-1, Lost in Regional semifinal
6. West Salem: 1-1, Lost in Regional semifinal
10. Black River Falls: 0-1, Lost in Regional quarterfinal
12. Viroqua: 0-1, Lost in Regional quarterfinal
7. Luther: 1-1, Lost in Regional semifinal

Teams Playing:
1. Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau: 2-0, Regional Champs
3. Arcadia: 2-0, Regional Champs

Thursday, February 28 Sectional Semifinal:
3. Arcadia vs. 1. G-E-T @ BRF - I would assume G-E-T wears home jerseys, but I can’t remember if it is based on ticket sales or seed. These teams have played very well against each other this season as they split the series 1-1. As a biased Red Hawk fan, I would argue that G-E-T only lost because their next three offensive options under Lexi Wagner sat on the bench in foul trouble much of the game, but Arcaida did play stellar defense on Wagner. If G-E-T doesn’t get into foul trouble early, or Arcadia for that matter, it should be a very good game.
(4. Hayward vs. 2. Prescott @ New Richmond) - On the north side of the section, Hayward upset 1. Amery by 1 point to earn another consectutive Regional final (I want to say 7 in a row?). Prescott beat Bloomer in a back-and-forth game by 5. Hayward seems to be getting hot at the right time compared to earlier games in the season, so they do have a serious chance at another upset. Prescott has also been playing well in the playoffs after a tough loss to Osceola in the regular season. I think this will be another close, low scoring game.

Saturday, March 2 Sectional Final:
1. G-E-T/3. Arcadia vs. 2. Prescott/4. Hayward @ Altoona - This is it, the game that decides which team makes it to state. I am predicting a rematch between G-E-T and Prescott, but don’t be surprised if it ends up Arcadia and Hayward. No matter what the match-up, each team didn’t make it this far on accident, and all four of these teams have a good chance at making it to Green Bay. All four of these teams have especially great defenses, but they aren’t afraid to turn it to high on offense. No matter what, I think this game will be a very close one that comes down to the wire.

My Predictions:
3. Arcadia vs. 1. G-E-T
4. Hayward vs. 2. Prescott

1. G-E-T vs. 2. Prescott

Sectional Semifinal Results:
3. Arcadia 28, 1. G-E-T 41 - Arcadia never had a lead all game, but they did keep it close until the very end. The game was officiated well, and both defenses played amazingly. Both teams caused several turnovers and missed shots, but it was the Red Hawks who won to advance on to the Elite 8 of D3 girls basketball. Arcadia’s season ends with a 19-5 record after a very successful season, though they easily could have had a 21-3 record. They return several key players and starters while only losing a couple of seniors.

4. Hayward 48, 2. Prescott 42 - Prescott lead for almost the entire game, but Hayward was able to clamp down on defense. They played the last several minutes in their tempo with great man-to-man defense and pulled off another upset to extend their season for a chance at yet another trip to state if they can beat G-E-T.

Sectional Final Results:
1. G-E-T 47, 4. Hayward 22 - At one point early in the 1st half, Hayward held a 4-point lead, but G-E-T ended the half with a 13-0 run to go up 22-13. From their it was all G-E-T as their defensive improvements only allowed 9 points. Their offense in the second half was also very fun to watch, and for the first time in program history, they are participating in the State tournament with other great teams like Marshall, Laconia, and Freedom. Congrats to the Red Hawks!
