The Board supported first consideration of a conference realignment proposal that moves Northland Lutheran and Pittsville from the Marawood Conference to the Central Wisconsin Conference for all sports beginning in the fall of 2017. The plan also places Wisconsin Valley Lutheran in the Central Wisconsin Conference.

Membership rules require a 40-day window for schools involved in conference realignment plans to appeal the first consideration of the Board before it takes final action. Thus, schools have until Aug. 2, 2016, to file an appeal of the Board?s initial vote. The Board is scheduled to take final action on the plan at its Aug. 12 meeting.

Unless something changes this is going to create waves in the 8 and 10... As I understand it they want 3 divisions...small ..medium and large in the CWC. Where those lines are drawn will be huge if it's going to fly ? Have to wonder if Clintonville And Oconto Falls are still in the mix as large schools ?

Thoughts ?

The first three teams mentioned have 2016 enrollments of Northern Luthern (69) Wisconsin Valley (62) and Pittsville (181) which makes them all smaller then the smallest team in the CWC-8, Manawa (212). Manawa is already moving to the CWC-10. Do they make 3 divisions of 7?

Quick list of enrollments broken down into 3 divisions based on 2016 enrollments.

Wittenberg (350)
Bonduel (326)
Amherst (303)
Weyawega Fremont (253)
Menominee Indians (245)
Shiocton (244)
Iola (239)

Pacelli (222)
Manawa (212)
Rosholt (198)
Tri County (190)
Pittsville (181)
Wild Rose (163)
Marion (143)

Almond Bancroft (120)
Port Edwards (117)
Bowler (100)
Gresham (83)
Tigerton (81)
Norhtland Lutheran (69)
Wisconsin Valley Lutheran (62)

I think I would prefer to have two ten team divisions, not a big fan of only having 7 teams. That means 3 non-conference games for football.

Keep in mind Bowler/Gresham plays 8 man and Marion/Tigerton are combined for FB. There has to be another team or 2 involved for FB ? From what I understand though it will be a 3 division conference though they are handling it kind of quiet.. It would be nice if the CWC would issue a press release on the situation.

The non conference issue isn't that big of deal... Manawa filled with Wega and Iola keeping natural rivals and limiting the impact. So those schools in a 3 division system could do the same thing. It would be much much easier if the WIAA would step in and create another football only conference though...

UPDATED ENROLLMENT NUMBERS... new FB splits for 2017 ?

CWC LARGE
Wittenberg (313)
Bonduel (305)
Amherst (332)
Weyawega Fremont (272)
Shiocton (223)
Iola (220)

CWC Medium
Pacelli (219)
Manawa (218)
Rosholt (188)
Tri County (190)
Pittsville (185)

CWC SMALL

Wild Rose (165)
Marion (145) Tigerton (80) CO -OP
Almond Bancroft (123)
Port Edwards (113)

Bowler (99)
Gresham (76) Both play 8-man

Northland Lutheran (53) NO FB
Wisconsin Valley Lutheran (62) NO FB

Marion isn't going in the medium and I can see tri county balk as well but bottom line if they divide by 3 it's a mess.

My wish CWC FB is below

Red

Northland Pines(472) ( needs to find a home in WI)
Westfield Area (352) (don't have the numbers to compete in the south central)
Wittenberg (313)
Bonduel (305)
Amherst (332)
Weyauwega Fremont (272)

CWC Blue

Shiocton (223)
Iola (220)
Pacelli (219)
Manawa (218)
Rosholt (188)
Pittsville (185)

CWC White

Tri County (190)
Wild Rose (165)
Marion (145) Tigerton (80) CO -OP
Almond Bancroft (123)
Port Edwards (113)

You could potentially get a team like Clintonville in the large as well and drop Wega to medium and Rosholt to the small. Gives you 3 6 team divisions. The extra slots can be inter division match ups/rivalry games. The only other option is for the WIAA to create a FB only 3rd conference.
