Will let import do the standings as he pleases, however, here's the games this week

New Glarus-Monticello at Wisconsin Heights - NGM has had a rough season, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Very possible they break out against a leaky Heights defense. Heights has no trouble scoring, but they do have some trouble trying to keep other teams from doing that. I feel that if Heights keeps it close, they may actually pull it off, but I don't believe Heights has the depth to do it. NGM by 7.

Marshall at Waterloo - Waterloo continues to win, but now comes the meat of their schedule. We will see if they truly are for real here. If healthy, Loo is good, but so is Marshall and Ty DeForest. I believe Marshall cobbles up enough offense.

Cambridge at Belleville - This one will not be close.

Lodi at Poynette - Game of the Week! Poynette has a fine offense, but Lodi has a fine defense. What gives here? I think this one being at Poynette, in front of their community will give the Pumas the edge they need in beating their rivals.

Lakeside at Luther Prep - The WELS matchup, Capitol style! LL is sinking very fast..... will they actually drop this one to the Phoenix? No, they wont, but it might be very close...

Columbus at Lake Mills - I think Columbus continues to rebound. They'll only be a game away from the playoffs with a win here.

Week 8 Picks

NGM at Wisconsin Heights- I don't see WH winning at all in conference this year. NGM was in a close game with Waterloo and you have to think they held Marshall to 8 points in the first half. NGM by 14

Marshall at Waterloo- This is game of the week in the South for sure. The North has to be Lodi and Poynette. Here we go Waterloo has Lincks who is a dual threat on the ground and in the passing game. If Waterloo can start out the game fast instead of slow like they have been I think they can win. If Marshall plays like they did last week I will see them losing two straight. But I think they worked on things and are going to come out hard tonight. Marshall by 7 little rivalry game

Cambridge at Belleville- This could be a pretty decent game for a while if Hayes is given time to throw the ball he could surprise them. But in the end Cambridge is going to pull out the win. Owens right now is running with a swagger. He may have not scored last week but he ran hard. He will do the same this week. Bluejays by21

Lodi at Poynette- Well here's the game of the week in the north. Poynette has been impressive all year long but so has Lodi. Here's the thing that questions me.....Lodi lost to Wautoma but then Wautoma barely beat Westfield, a team that has struggled all year. So I am going to go with the home team tonight. The Pumas are good this year and at home they just don't lose. They beat up on Columbus at home and I think they will win conference here tonight. Pumas by 14

Lakeside Lutheran at Luther Prep- LL is shaky but they will get the win tonight against a disappointing Prep team.

Columbus at Lake Mills- Columbus will win big and be one step closer to the playoffs. Columbus by 21.

New Glarus/Monticello at Wisconsin Heights: Heights turned a few heads by defying expectations of a lean roster but NG/M has the weapons to win this.

Marshall at Waterloo: Waterloo has the momentum going into this one.

Cambridge at Belleville: Cambridge has already scored.

Lodi at Poynette: Lodi finds way to win in these types of games in the battle of former South Central teams.

Lakeside Lutheran at Watertown Luther Prep: Warriors torch the Phoenix in the WELS Civil War.

Columbus at Lake Mills: Kinda surprised that the Cards are fighting their way into the postseason.

Marshall at Waterloo, game of the week for the Capitol south. This is the best rivalry in all of the Capitol south and north. Marshall hates Waterloo and waterloo hates Marshall. This has the makings to be a classic Waterloo vs Marshall cut throat smash mouth football game. Waterloo

Cambridge

Poynette by a hair 7

Lakeside

Columbus by a lot

I probably won't get standings up tonight, but I'll start the Week 9 pick 'em this weekend and everything will be updated.

New Glarus/Monticello at Wisconsin Heights - I'll take the visitors here, but they'll probably make it more difficult than it should be. Glarner Knights by 14.

Marshall at Waterloo - first real test for the Pirates. I think overall they've got better depth, and being at home is a bonus, but I like Marshall's skill position players better. That DeForest guy, ... he might yet turn out to be semi-decent at some point. Cardinals by 14.

Cambridge at Belleville - I think it's kind of close, but the Wildcats get eliminated from playoff contention. Bluejays by 20.

Lodi at Poynette - even if the Blue Devils were at home, I still wouldn't pick them. Poynette is that good, and its skill guys will take over in the 2nd half to end Lodi's 10-game conference winning streak. Pumas by 16.

Lakeside at Luther Prep - consensus is on the Warriors, and I think that's correct (Warriors by 22), but I'll go contrary just to see if I can climb up in the standings a notch. Phoenix by 3.

Columbus at Lake Mills - the loser of this game is eliminated from playoff contention. That will be the inconsistent L-Cats - though if they can slow the Columbus running attack (they won't), they could hang in this game for a while (they won't). Cardinals by 25.

The finals (as I've got them so far):

-- Lodi 34, Poynette 7. The Blue Devils clinch the C-North title for the 2nd year in a row in a thrashing of the Pumas.
-- Columbus 41, Lake Mills 14. The Cardinals face another elimination game next week, while the L-Cats are out.
-- Lakeside Lutheran 28, Luther Prep 12. The Warriors finally come alive in the 4th and thwart a Phoenix upset (and stay alive for the playoffs).
-- Cambridge 43, Belleville 18. The Bluejays play for the outright conference title next week in Waterloo.
-- Marshall 22, Waterloo 6. The Pirates drop their first game of the season, while the Cardinals rebound on the road.

Still out: NGM-Heights.
