The standings with 2 weeks and 12 games left to go:

1. amped0808: 47-11 (.8103)
2. cettt: 46-12 (.7931)
3. thecrackerjack: 41-11 (.7885)

5. capcon: 43-15 (.7414)
6. wihsfootball: 42-16 (.7241)
7. whfan202: 37-15 (.7115)
T8. bcushing: 41-17 (.7069)
T8. importfromil: 41-17 (.7069)
10. card80fan: 40-18 (.6897)

In a season with not much to celebrate, I'm patting myself on the back for going a perfect 6-0 last week by being the lone wolf to take Marshall over Waterloo. It still leaves me 6 games out of 1st, but there's still hope. Otherwise, the standings look pretty much the same as last week since because everyone went 5-1 and missed on Waterloo/Marshall except me (did I mention I was perfect last week?), wihsfootball (who also missed on Poynette/Lakeside), and whfan202 (who didn't have picks in for last week, and thus is given the "free rider" pass and misses out on a chance to get into a tie for 5th).

Week 8 Schedule
Marshall (3-0, 4-3) at Belleville (0-3, 1-6)
Poynette (1-2, 5-2) at Columbus (3-0, 7-0)
Lodi (3-0, 7-0) at Lakeside Lutheran (2-1, 6-1)
Lake Mills (0-3, 3-4) at Luther Prep (0-3, 4-3)
Cambridge (2-1, 4-3) at New Glarus/Monticello (2-1, 2-5)
Wisconsin Heights (0-3, 0-7) at Waterloo (2-1, 4-3)

I didn't miss on Lakeside - Poynette. I took Lakeside. Not that it much matters.

Doh! My sincere apologies, I screwed that up - corrected in the original post.

Marshall at Belleville - it was just 2 years ago that the Wildcats shocked everyone by knocking off a Marshall squad that looked to be cruising toward a share of the conference title. That ... was 2 years ago. Even if the guests aren't nearly as loaded as in past seasons, neither are the hosts. Cardinals by 28.

Poynette at Columbus - it's been a long time since the Pumas lost this game; records I have say it's been since 1997. Columbus almost (arguably should have) snapped the streak 2 years ago; this year, the streak finally comes to a halt. Cardinals by 25.

Lodi at Lakeside Lutheran - if the Warriors want to toss their hat into the circle for a shot at a share of the conference title, it has to happen here. I think they lay it all on the line, but fall short ... just like the prior 7 opponents Lodi has faced have done. Blue Devils by 21.

Lake Mills at Luther Prep - Moen, Paulsen, ... somehow it would be fitting if these two throw for 400 yards each. Phoenix by 19.

Cambridge (2-1, 4-3) at New Glarus/Monticello - gah, what a toss-up game. There's lots of reasons to take either team, and lots of reasons to take neither one. With a playoff spot on the line, it seems like if Cambridge is going to get up for a game, this would be it; performance to date says they don't. Glarner Knights by 6.

Wisconsin Heights (0-3, 0-7) at Waterloo - the Vanguards have a chance to win a game this season ... just not this week. Pirates by 38 to clinch a playoff spot.

Week 8 Schedule
Marshall - No Hayes or Woods to pull off the upset this time. Marshall by 21
Columbus - As import mentioned, it has been a while since Columbus has beaten Poynette. Poynette may hang around for a half, as Luther Prep did, but the Cardinals will wear them down. Columbus by 28
Lodi - Week 8 is going to give us a glimpse as to how good Lodi is. The weather is supposed to be nice and won't be a factor like when they played Luther Prep. You have a Lakeside team that would love to knock Lodi off their #1 ranking. I think Lodi is too strong in their front 8. If you are a #1 team you need a statement game at some point. Lodi by 21
Luther Prep - I have seen both teams play. I would say that Lake Mills has better athletes/skill guys than Luther Prep. Luther Prep has better line play. This one may set some passing records. Luther Prep by 7.
Cambridge - When I first looked at this weeks games I was going to go with NGM. Something isn't right in Cambridge. With that said this may be the perfect medicine to get the offense going against a defense that has struggled. Cambridge by 21
Waterloo - The Pirates right the ship (cheesy, I know) and become playoff eligible. Waterloo by 30

Marshall at Belleville-it's a shame woods and Hayes never had any defense or much size on their lines. They could of won a conference title if they had some defense. I think it's gonna be closer game then everybody expects. But Marshall will come out with a win. Marshall by 14

Poynette at Columbus- Columbus snaps the streak and this will really get the ball going for the Columbus old timers that want to talk about the 90s. Columbus by 21

Lodi at lakeside- good rivalry here, this game hasn't been this good in a few years. Lodi will keep the march to the number one seed going. And really want to run the score up Lodi by30

Lakemills at prep-moen and Paulsen going at it in a gun slingers duel. I like prep because they have a better defense then Lakemills. But wouldn't be surprised if lake mills pulls one off. Prep by 14

Cambridge at new garlus/Monticello- I like new garlus, Cambridge can't seem to ever pull back to back good seasons of lately. New garlus by 7

Heights at Waterloo- heights will go hard but loo will run them over. And Waterloo really blew their game away last week, so there could be a hangover for them. Loo by 28

Sorry my picks are so late!!!

Marshall at Belleville- hope it's a good game but without Hayes or shemanski it more than likely won't be even though Belleville's back isn't to bad. Marshall by 7

Poynette at Columbus- Poynette loses their playoffs hope this year by losing tonight. Cards are just too good. Cards by 21

Lodi at Lakeside Lutheran- LL is good but Lodi has proven to be the team to beat tonight. Lodi by 14

Lake Mills at Luther Prep- I think both teams will put up points but a prep has the better over team. Prep by 14

Cambridge at NGM- cambridge is good but they aren't the same team as they were last year. NGM is good but no defense so it's a tough one to pick. I want NGM to make the playoffs but they won't this week. Cambridge by 7

Waterloo at Wisconsin Heights- Waterloo should have won last week but they lost the game on their own. Also the refs missed a key call on a Marshall kid who didn't have his mouth guard in on a scoring play. Clear as day to see but that's football. Loo by 28

We're missing Waterloo/Heights, but the other scores:

Columbus 51, Poynette 13 (snaps a long losing streak for the Cardinals vs. the Pumas)
Luther Prep 35, Lake Mills 20 (snaps a 15-game conference losing streak for the Phoenix)
Lodi 31, Lakeside Lutheran 17 (turnovers doom the Blue Devils in the 1st half; turnovers save them in the 2nd half)
Marshall 46, Belleville 6 (Cardinals can complete an undefeated season in the C-South next week)
New Glarus/Monticello 38, Cambridge 19 (Glarner Knights are in the playoffs; Bluejays now have a do-or-die game vs. Marshall)

Spoiler: there might be a semi-big game next week. You might want to get there really early to get a seat.

Lodi may need to bring some extra sets of bleachers just to the mass of spectators for both teams.

BTW, should Luther Prep win tonight it will snap a 15-game conference skid that dates back to 2011, when the Phoenix last picked up a conference W over ... Lake Mills.
