We finally have a perfect week from someone, as ash22themagnificent hit on the Poynette game to go 6-0. It's enough to get him to a game out of 1st, still held by co-leaders cettt and amped0808. I still hold the basement.

thecrackerjack failed to get picks in, so now we have to resort to win% on picks; a 2nd miss will result in a DQ.

Week 6 Schedule
New Glarus/Monticello (0-5, 0-1) at Belleville (1-4, 0-1)
Lake Mills (3-2, 0-1) at Columbus (5-0, 1-0)
Luther Prep (4-1, 0-1) at Lakeside Lutheran (4-1, 0-1)
Poynette (5-0, 1-0) at Lodi (5-0, 1-0)
Cambridge (3-2, 1-0) at Waterloo (3-2, 1-0)
Marshall (2-3, 1-0) at Wisconsin Heights (1-4, 0-1)

NG-M at Belleville - I love a good rivalry, and both these teams have a winnable game here. What it comes down to for NGM is whether they can play enough defense to skate by and contain Belleville's aerial assault, and Belleville has to tighten on defense (a perennial Achilles Heel for that team). It could go either way, but I like NGM to get their first win of the year.

Lake Mills at Columbus - This Columbus team is really, really good this year. The new offense helped them win big against a solid Lakeside team, and now they get a reeling (IMO) Lake Mills team who lost a tough one to Poynette last week on the road. I don't think LM has ability to get a win, but I feel shockers will be abound in the North this year, so I fully expect to be wrong on this...

Luther Prep at Lakeside Lutheran - The WELS battle! We have a good matchup on the docket too, an upstart Luther Prep team, and a Lakeside team that's energized by the addition of Austin DeNoyer. Luther Prep has beaten solid competition and killed chances of hanging with Lodi due to turnovers.... if they can play clean football, I believe Prep can eke this one out.

Poynette at Lodi - The question isn't whether Lodi wins or not, but will Lodi keep the shutout streak going?

Cambridge at Waterloo - GOTW in the South this week, winner is the trendy pick to win the conference title. I like Cambridge, but what have they proved other than inconsistency? First two wins were nice, but they then were obliterated by Nekoosa and Lakeside, and beat Heights (doesn't say much). Waterloo hasn't exactly came up roses, but they have lost to good teams and won the ones they should have.... and given that it's a home game, I'm going to take the Pirates here.

Marshall
at Wisconsin Heights - The only thing that stops Marshall from beating Heights is a bus that doesn't work.

Belleville in a close one

Columbus by 21. I look for C-Bus's defense to play better this week. They were stout in the second half against Lakeside and I look for that to carry into this week.

Luther Prep by 6. I think Lakeside is a bit overrated. They could not stop Columbus and they caught C-Bus on a night where they did not play their best game on defense.

Lodi again will post a shut out. Lodi by 28

Not sure with Loo and Cambridge. I will go Cambridge by 3

Marshall by 21

New Glarus/Monticello at Belleville - total toss-up game. Did I see that Gavin Binger played last week? The stats line says he did, and I 'm going to presume that (A) he plays again this week, and (B) the hosts aren't gifted a kickoff return and a fumble recovery in the end zone on a bad punt snap. Glarner Knights by 11.

Lake Mills at Columbus - I think Moen will throw the ball a ton. I think Smith may run the ball a ton ... maybe more. Cardinals by 28.

Luther Prep at Lakeside Lutheran - all these games played, and there's still no "good" way to compare these two ... so I go to the sniff test. Do I think Lakeside would have stayed within 24-0 of Lodi with turnovers causing a chunk of it? No. (There's a transitive property argument to be made ... but it's long - so I'll spare everyone.) Phoenix by 10.

Poynette at Lodi - I would go out on a limb and say that the hosts continue the shutout streak ... but then I'd get proven wrong because the Pumas would score something like 2 TD's (even if 1 is on a defensive return). I'll say it anyway: the hosts continue the shutout streak. Blue Devils by 30.

Cambridge at Waterloo - gotta agree with whfan202 here, though neither team has any particularly impressive wins when you look at the records of the team they've beaten and who those teams have beaten. For me, it comes down to "I have no idea how the Bluejays got blown out twice that badly." Honestly, any result here wouldn't surprise me. Pirates by 1.

Marshall at Wisconsin Heights - I would love to see the Vanguards have some reason for hope. It just won't happen this week. Cardinals by 27.

I was fairly certain that I put my picks in last week, but I don't see them in the thread...

New Glarus/Monticello - No real feeling one way or another. Just going with a gut feeling here.

Columbus - Columbus has been very good on defense. When you stop the run people are forced to pass. Because of that Columbus has given up some pass plays. They do have 9 interceptions as a team though. We will find out this week how good Columbus is defending the pass and if that is a strength or weakness on their team.

Luther Prep - We will see who responds better to their first loss of the year. Prep is probably feeling better about how they lost to Lodi than the way Lakeside is feeling about the way Columbus crushed them. Although a Lakeside loss this week makes making the playoffs a very difficult challenge with Lodi still yet to play. I think Luther Prep comes out on top.

Lodi - When one of these teams is good and the other one is bad cliches are used like throw the records out the window. These two schools have had some epic battles the last few years in multiple sports. We knew Lodi would be good but I don't think anyone has picked Poynette to win every week in our Pick Em contest. With that said Lodi is too much for the surprising Pumas. If Luther Prep couldn't score I expect the shut out streak to continue.

Waterloo - In looking at the schedules coming into this game it is tough. Cambridge has a nice win against Clinton but the losses to Nekoosa and Lakeside we not just losses, they were dominated. Waterloo faced a tough non-conference schedule by playing Lodi and Luther Prep. Even though they lost they haven't been blown out of any games yet.

Marshall - After a rough non-conference stretch Marshall comes one win away from being playoff eligible.

New Glarus/Monticello at Belleville- NGM had a good game last week just fell short to turnovers but Gavin Binger seems to be back and he will be a difference maker. NGM by 14

Lake Mills at Columbus- Seeing how Columbus man handled Lakeside last week shocked me. I knew they were good but had no idea they had the ability to do that too Lakeside. Lake Mills won't be able to hang around long and that's why the Cards win by 21.

Luther Prep at Lakeside Lutheran- I like both teams and wish there was a way for all the teams to make it to the playoffs but it just won't happen. Lakeside is still a good team and Denoyer is just a beast. I like LL by 14

Poynette at Lodi- Poynette has gotten by so far but this week we get to see how good they really are against a D4 powerhouse. Lodi has one of the best defenses in the state and even without Kuehn they can still produce wins. Lodi by 21

Cambridge at Waterloo- Gallitz can't seem to get anything going in the passing attack and Owens and the Bluejays have some confidence back after last week. If they can block for Owens then they shouldn't have a problem Friday night. Bluejays by 10

Marshall at Wisconsin Heights- Heights has speed and Marshall has struggled so far this year against teams with speed and teams that have a pretty good passing attack. I don't know how good Heights is when passing but if they are pretty successful Friday and get a few stops they can be right in the game. It's going to come down to key plays Friday for each team and turnovers. But going to take Marshall by 14

New garlus/Monticello at Belleville- this game is part of the rivalry games being played this week along with prep at lakeside and Cambridge at Waterloo. With binger being back I still think NGM can make the playoffs but they have dug themselves a hole. after seeing last weeks game with Belleville I have some major questions on their head coach. The team with fewest turnovers will win this one. New garlus by 14

Lakemills at Columbus- Colin moen made it as a Dave Kreig semi finalist. He'll put up his numbers but Lakemills isn't got the size or strength to compete with Columbus. Columbus by 28

Luther prep at lakeside- lakeside had a disappointing game last week and they will be fired up and raring to go. Prep won't back down and they need to have a good night throwing the football to win this one. Lakeside by 7 in the toughest game of the week.

Poynette at Lodi- I'm surprised on Poynette his year, their having a great year. I know Lodi's defense didn't give this up but when they played Waterloo. Their was a play in the second half were loo sacked Lodi's qb and he fumbled and loo's defensive lineman took it to the house but the qb was ruled down. And after watching this play, theirs no way the qb was down. The refs missed one! Poynettes got to beat the streak this week. Lodi by 21

Cambridge at Waterloo- theirs a lot of hate between these two towns. Cambridge owned them last year and josh Owens has had some great games against them. Waterloo did in the playoff game hang with them and play them tough in the first half but couldn't hang in the second half. It's simple loo needs to contain Owens and protect the football. Cambridge by 7

Marshall at Wisconsin heights- I think heights will make this game interesting for at least a half. But Marshall will win. Marshall by 21

New Glarus/Monticello (0-5, 0-1) at Belleville (1-4, 0-1): I can't see Belleville winning this one.

Lake Mills (3-2, 0-1) at Columbus (5-0, 1-0): Holy crap Columbus! Never expected a blowout against Lakeside.

Luther Prep (4-1, 0-1) at Lakeside Lutheran (4-1, 0-1): Prep needs to dig deep and find a way to contain DeNoyer. However, Lakeside must be steaming mad that they were blown out last week.

Poynette (5-0, 1-0) at Lodi (5-0, 1-0): I think the shutout streak ends this year. I also think Wrightstown may have something to say about Lodi's D4 title aspirations.

Cambridge (3-2, 1-0) at Waterloo (3-2, 1-0): This isn't the same Cambridge team from last year. Waterloo has been a bit more consistent.

Marshall (2-3, 1-0) at Wisconsin Heights (1-4, 0-1): Heights best chances to win a game come in the next few weeks.
