The girls are underway; the boys tip it off next week. Any thoughts or comments on what to expect for either division?

Marshall will reload, New Glarus will be on the rise, Heights may turn some heads, Waterloo will be solid, Belleville may take a step back, and Cambridge may rise IF they can find viable scoring beyond Parish.

Have to remember that Marshall's JV went 22-0 last year though.

Girls are off and running.

Lakeside, Lake Mills, Lodi and Poynette all sit 2-0 with the closest game of the group being Poynette's 82-79 season opener over Marshall. The C-South has 3 total wins; 2 are wins over C-North teams (Cambridge over Columbus, New Glarus over Luther Prep).

Columbus takes 3rd at Beaver Dam; 63-57 OT loss to Fall River, but a 65-20 thrashing of Bayfield in the consolation game.

The boys kick off tomorrow night, with A-F/Cambridge, New Glarus/Mauston, Waterloo/Westfield, Wautoma/Heights, and Lake Mills/Deerfield. Saturday sees 3 teams get started, with Marshall/Deerfield, Lakeside/Edgerton and Lodi/Sauk Prairie. A week from Tuesday sees everyone else finally get started, with Belleville/Poynette, Luther Prep/Cambridge and Columbus/Heights.

Well a good improvement would be getting to a .500 season , this team will be 5 seniors and 2 juniors that will probably get the majority of the minutes. So it should hopefully be an improvement in Loo Basketball !!

Lakeside Lutheran looks like the early favorite in the C-North Girls, while the C-South Girls appears to be a 3-way toss-up between Cambridge, Marshall (who handed Columbus another close loss) and Wisconsin Heights.

On the boys side, Marshall opened up with a 70-52 win over Deerfield. Lakeside Lutheran falls to Edgerton in Fort Atkinson, Lodi drops the home opener to Sauk Prairie. Season kicks into full swing tonight.

Marshall beats Lodi to keep last night from being a C-North sweep over the C-South.

Tanner Bruchs dropped 40 on Belleville in Poynette's 82-63 win. Riley Lytle added 22 for the Pumas; Ryan Hayes with 19 for the Wildcats.

Belleville lost at River Valley (59-30) last night and the Wildcats struggled to put up points in the first half which was costly though Hayes came off the bench to led the team with fifteen points. Some of the Belleville fans that I ran into weren't bitter at all though I told them that RV wasn't literally trying to run up the score on purpose.

Congrats to Kyle Geiger of Columbus, who broke the 1,000 point mark for his career back on January 5 in a 70-49 win over Mayville at home. Columbus followed that up with a 43-41 win at Lodi, marking the Cards first win over the Blue Devils since the 2009-10 season.
