Anyone know if The Dailey Brothers are still on the team at Mineral Point?

I went to their game in LAX and didn't see Brayden. Would have been a tighter game with him.

Mineral Point was without leading scorer Brayden Dailey, who was not with the team and reportedly withdrew from the school earlier in the week.

Mark tweeted this on Saturday:

It is a fluid situation with Brayden Dailey, Mason Dailey and the Mineral Point basketball program. They may or may not return to the team. Did not play today in loss vs. Caledonia, Minn.

General scuttlebutt seems to revolve around them being taken out of MP and moved to Platteville (where their dad/they live...not sure if this was an OE situation to begin with).

Doesn't look real good on paper. Reminds me of the situation at Ripon a few years ago.

Ahhh Ripon, where transfers just happen to end up, naturally, of course. Except now that there are different people involved,  they somehow don't get transfers..... funny how that works.

If it was an OE situation, it happened when the kids were still in middle school or younger. I know Brayden Dailey  went to middle school in MP.

Mark Miller tweeted out today:

It appears very likely both Mason and Brayden Dailey will not return to the Mineral Point basketball program this season. Brayden Dailey (6-5) is one the state's elite class of 2021 prospects. A transfer appears likely at some point in the future.

----

If it's anywhere other than Platteville, Belmont or Dodgeville (along 151)...start investigating...lol.

Or maybe Jerry wants a reason to coach a few more years...although with the Olson kid and the Daileys his team would sorta start to resemble a lot of those teams he complained about having to play pre-five divisions. 😂

I fear we have entered the "if you can't beat them, join them" mode of HS sports.  Transfers, OE, school shopping, moving to play sports, it's all becoming the new normal and is one reason I would like to see the WIAA come down hard on a few and do so publicly to send a message.

How many Nicolet's are we going to have in another 1-3-5 years? You can't tell me that some other HS or AAU programs are not kicking around how they can get their core kids to play together all year round via a school move or transfer.

can you compare this to regulations for surrounding states? Do they enjoy a competitive advantage due to their transfer rules?

Rumor has it that they practiced with Point last night.

Platteville succeeding at the expense of MP. I thought the Southern 8 dissolved 30 years ago?

According to our own intrepid member longball, the Daileys are no longer listed on the Mineral Point roster handed out at games.

Fennimore beat MP 62-59 tonight, btw. And that's with Fennimore's Reid Larson out the whole second half.

What a shame. Pointers coulda been something this year and down the line.

My two cents on it. I think its a very sad situation, knowing some of what is happening there. You hate to see things like this happen, whether it be any of the following: chemistry, ego, parents, etc. In this case, both student athletes are no longer with the program. It is true that neither name was in the program anywhere. I see his stats are no longer in the 3 point challenge as well. Whatever happens, whether it be an end of the year transfer (I think WIAA would require a 2018-2019 class year transfer yet in order for him to play next year) or him just not playing next year, it's a sad situation for athletics down here, at MP and for our conference. You never want to see a talented player not in the game. I feel sorry and saddened for all involved. And also my two cents, I don't see how the transfer of Brayden out to another school, is to make some super team. He had a nice team that he was already on at MP.

Again, that's my two cents. Who knows where he ends up next year. Heck, people seem to think he ends up here. I just hope they work things out over there. Hate to see situations like this happen anywhere. It really is sad.

Mark mentioned on this week's WSN Podcast that the Dailey residence in MP is up for sale.

Well his mom lives in Mineral Point and his dad in Platteville. So I mean, there are choices. I just listened to the podcast as well, just to see what Mark had to say. All the parties involved in this just need to move on and focus on fixing relationships and strengthening bonds. That's got to be a tough place to be now, on both sides. Tried to feel out the mood at the game, but it was tough. Brayden is a heck of a talent and I am sure he will be missed. In the end he's still just a kid guys. Who knows how the teammates feel as well. But MP needs to move on and focus on the rest of the season. Still a good team that can do some damage.
