With less than a month until brackets are released, I felt it was time to take a look at where Packerland teams stack up in their regionals. The following are my seeding predictions based on the season to date.

Division 3
1.         Brillion (11-2, 8-1 Olympian)
2.         Wrightstown (11-2, 8-2 Olymian)
3.         Roncalli (9-3, 7-3 Olympian)
4.         Chilton ? (9-4, 7-3 Olympian)
5.         Two Rivers (7-5, 3-4 Eastern Wisconsin)
6.         Valders (7-5, 5-4 Olympian)
7.         Luxemburg-Casco (6-6, 5-3 Bay)
8.         Denmark (6-7, 2-6 Bay)
9.         Southern Door (7-7, 5-2 Packerland)
10.         Sturgeon Bay (8-5, 6-2 Packerland)
11.         New Holstein (2-10, 2-6 Eastern Wisconsin)
12.         Kewaunee (2-11, 2-5 Packerland)

Thoughts: Through the first half of the season, the four Olympian teams at the top have separated themselves from the rest of the regional. However, they really have not separated themselves from each other, as there has been plenty of beating up on one another so far. How they get seeded could very well come down to conference record at the time of the seeding meeting. While Sothern Door and Sturgeon Bay have good conference records, they have been very mediocre out of conference, most notably a Southern Door loss to Denmark.

Division 4 ? Sectional 2, Regional A
1. Wabeno/Laona (10-3, 6-1 Northern Lakes)
2. Oconto (6-6, 3-5 Packerland)
3. Crivitz (4-7, 4-4 M&O)
4. Gillett (3-9, 3-5 M&O)
5. Menominee Indian (3-9, 3-6 CWC-10)
6. Coleman (1-11, 1-7 M&O)

Thoughts: Wabeno sets themselves apart based on their record, both in conference and then a 4-2 non-conference record (including a decent win over 7-6 Marion, and beating regional opponent Gillett). While the Packerland is far from strong outside of N.E.W. Lutheran, Oconto is probably a little better than their 3-5 conference record indicates and I could see them playing right with Wabeno/Laona in a potential match up. The Blue Devils also have a non-conference win over Crivitz.

Division 4 ? Sectional 2 Half-Bracket B
1.         Shiocton (11-1, 7-0 CWC-8)
2.         Lourdes Academy (8-4, 7-0 Trailways North)
3.         Algoma (9-4, 6-2 Packerland)
4.         Howards Grove (9-4, 6-2 Central Lakeshore)
5.         Manitowoc Lutheran (6-6, 4-5 Olympian)
6.         Reedsville (5-7, 3-6 Olympian)
7.         Bonduel (5-6, 3-4 CWC-8)
8.         Weyauwega-Fremont (4-8, 1-6 CWC-8)
9.         Random Lake (3-8, 2-6 Central Lakeshore)
10.         Manawa (3-9, 0-7 CWC-8)
11.         Saint Mary Central (2-11, 1-9 Olympian)
12.         Mishicot (0-11, 0-9 Olympian)

Thoughts: Shiocton gets the #1 seed based on record, but there is still some question as to whether they are a legit state contender after a 30 point loss to Brillion earlier this year. For reference, the worse loss to Brillion of Manty Lu, Reedsville, and Saint Mary Central was a 22 point loss by Reedsville, with Lutheran only losing by 11. The next three have nearly identical records; however Lourdes gets the nod for the 2 seed with the most ?understandable? losses being to three D1 teams and 9-1 St. Mary Springs. Algoma has a head to head victory over Howards Grove. Manitowoc Lutheran and Reedsville round out the top half of teams through strength of schedule over Bonduel.

Division 5 ? Sectional 2, Half-Bracket B
1.         Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran (14-0, 8-0 Packerland)
2.         Suring (11-1, 7-1 M&O)
3.         Hilbert (6-7, 4-5 Olympian)
4.         Sheboygan Area Lutheran (7-5, 5-2 Central Lakeshore)
5.         Sheboygan County Christian (5-6, 4-3 Central Lakeshore)
6.         Lake Country Lutheran (8-4, 5-3 Midwest Classic)
7.         Gresham Community (7-4, 4-4 CWC-10)
8.         Kohler (6-7, 2-5 Central Lakeshore)
9.         Gibraltar (3-10, 1-7 Packerland)
10.         Saint Thomas Aquinas (6-6, 3-5 M&O)
11.         Living Word Lutheran (3-7, 2-5 Midwest Classic)
12.         Stockbridge (7-7)
13.         Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah ? (1-10, 0-7 Central Lakeshore)
14.         Sevastopol (1-10, 0-8 Packerland)
15.         Oneida Nation (2-6)
16.         Lena (0-14, 0-8 M&O)

Thoughts: N.E.W. Lutheran and Suring have separated themselves as the clear top two seeds. For me, Hilbert gets the 3 seed for their strength of schedule, had football injuries to start the year, and one has to remember they return the same team (when healthy) that beat N.E.W. Lutheran last year. Sheboygan Area Lutheran gets the 4 seed with head to head victory over Lake Country Lutheran and better conference record than Sheboygan County Christian, but SCC did beat SAL in first conference match up so maybe some jostling for positioning between the two to come. Lake Country Lutheran, Gresham Community, and Kohler round out the top eight, mainly as a result of record with conference affiliation playing a bit of a factor. The bottom half is just a crapshoot of teams from a wide range of conferences and a couple non-conference teams as well. Either way, in my mind none of those teams are capable of winning more than a game regardless of how the seeding would play out.
