This has been DEAD for months.

Anyone have thoughts on Badger South Baseball this spring? Milton has the two good players. Edgewood should be good. Anyone, anyone???

returning all conference honors: Edgewood 5, Milton 4, Oregon 2. LOOKS like Edgewood and Milton might battle for conference. With the new BBCOR bats pitching, defense, and coaching are going to play a bigger role. Whoever defends the best will have a leg up.

Good point! It IS a SIMPLE GAME. Pitchers throw strikes, defense makes the routine plays. Whose basics, fundamentals, discipline will pay off?

Here's my two cents...

The kid who hit a legit .450-.500 last year, is still going to hit in the .400's..... A good contact hitter is only going to suffer in the extra-base hits statisical category, as the ball will not carry into the gaps like before. I think we will see alot more bloop hits over the infield and speed in the outfield will help tremendously. The outfielders should be able to play closer to the infield which should take away some of the offense's ability to score from 2nd on a base hit. With this being said, SMALL BALL will be a key... Being able to manufacture runs will determine alot of games. Average catchers and slow re-acting/weak-armed 3rd basemen will get exploited by any kid that can bunt and steal bases. Coaches better scout and do there homework, have their infield in tune with every situation, and expect to manage every pitch.

Like Diamondjem said... it's a simple game.... but it will be more like baseball should be, rather than any 140lb kid who sticks his bat out, hitting a ball to the fence...
The only thing I ever learned about losing is.... I dont like it very much...

BINGO! Still have to have talent, but coaching will play a bigger role. Infielders and outfielders shallower than in the past. Pitchers better be able to hold runners to give catchers a chance and catchers that can't block or throw out runners are going to cost their teams. Free bases(walks, HBP, and errors) are going to fuel the game. Getting back to the game the way it was meant to be played.

Fort won their opening game 3-2 over rival Jefferson on a walk off bases loaded single. Fort was the home team, but it was played in Jefferson.
Proud fan of the Packers, Cubs, Knicks, Orange, Warhawks, and Blackhawks.

Great game tonight with Milton coming out on top 3-2. Win or lose have to say i always like playing Edgewood. Their coach always has them ready to play and they play the game the right way.

VERY EASY to jump on the band wagon when things are going well. Funny how quiet most people are here (yourself included)when their team is not at the top.

I have always had nothing but praise for McCann. I have enjoyed watching him over the past four years. We have had great battles.

Tuesday's game was another good battle. Milton's new coach (in watching ONE game) seems to be very good.

As you say, lots of baseball to play. We'll see how things shake out in Mid June.

Beloit Memorial
Fort Atkinson
Janesville Craig
Janesville Parker
Madison La Follette
Madison West
Milton
Monona Grove
Oconomowoc
Oregon
Stoughton
Verona Area

Verona, Beloit and Oregon already beat them this year, and with the sectional semi and final in the same day, anything can happen...

Millerhighlife has been awful quiet this year, but now that Milton won conference I'm sure he will be gracing us with his knowledge the next few weeks.

Mr. HiLife, back from the Dead ...

Milton SHOULD get through their Sectional. The only competition will be LaFollette or Craig. Pretty weak Sectional, with only these three teams that are good. Milton's losses are to ... (NO OFFENSE) a couple teams that are not that strong.

Great points, 'ddd .. ' in a sectional ... who knows what can happen. Hopefully, NOBODY 'saves' an ace. That ALWAYS bites ya!

And, yes, hilife has been silent thru the 'not so rosy' times of football and hoops this year, now ... he is Lazerus.

A couple bad losses yes but when we need a win we get the win.... Milton has a solid hitting team from top to bottom....Burman and mccann are very scary hitters they can change the game with one swing of the bat....Looking forward to a good regional....Who will be the top seed milton or Craig??? and i see parker just beat Holman?? They can play great baseball and usually do in the playoffs...Im thinking it will be milton vs Craig in the playoff final...And of coarse milton on top....
Thats what i say

The edgewood milton matchup on monday should be a dandy. While conference and playoff seedings have already been decided, this is still a strong rivalry and you better believe both these teams want to win.

another great game. Edgewood comes out on top 1-0. Run scores bottom 6 on HBP, infield hit, and 2 walks.
