#21 Wisconsin (21-9 Overall, 13-6 Big Ten) at Ohio ST (18-12, 8-11)

Value City Arena, Columbus, OH

Tip-Off:  2:30 pm CDT

Television:  CBS

Point Spread:  Badgers favored by 2.5 points

A victory by Wisconsin assures the Badgers of the 4th-seed and a double-bye in the Big 10 Conference Tourney next weekend in Chicago.  A loss by UW will drop the Badgers into a 4th-place regular-season finish with Maryland in the conference and will put the Wisconsin at the mercy of tie-breakers to determine whether UW or Maryland gets the 4th-seed.

A loss by the Badgers today and they are indeed the #5 seed... The Badgers and Maryland split their "head-to-head" matchups, but while Wisconsin went 0-2 against Purdue and Michigan State, Maryland has a victory over Purdue.

Seriously.  How in the world does a team lose a 23 point - second half lead - to a depleted and undermanned opponent?  Watch the final 8:00 minutes of this game.  How may trips - and consecutive ones at that - did Trice or Davidson pound the ball into the floor as the shot clock goes from 10 to 5 and then appear as if they aren't even aware and end up throwing something at the rim as the clock expires.

And what was Happ thinking by going to the middle of the court - isolated so  that everyone is watching - with 30 seconds remaining in a tie game - and lower the boom on the Ohio St. defender?  And then complain about it.  First off, there was no need to go set a screen and second, if you are going to set the screen, get yourself set.  Being a 5th year senior he should know better.

Luckily they survived an epic collapse by everyone involved.  Getting the double bye is a huge advantage.  I like the match-up most likely with Maryland in the quarters, but the way Michigan St. is playing now, that will be an enormous task.  Getting one win in the conference tourney should lock up a 4 seed in the NCAA tourney.

An ugly win is still a win. Big picture this team won 22 games and finished 4th in the B1G with a projected 4 seed in the NCAA tourney. With the flaws that they have, that's a very good season.

The fact that Bucky was able to bounce back in the overtime and outscore Ohio St, 10-4, after surrendering a 23-pt lead, speaks to their resolve & resiliency ... invaluable, intangible traits which can carry a team through the rough spots & bumps in the road.
