Union Grove at Greenfield - The last remnants of the Koch Era at Greenfield have faded away. What remains is some talent, but a still wildly undisciplined and many would argue, underachieving program. The Woodland has struggled with SLC physicality as of late, look for that trend to continue here.

Greendale at Lake Geneva Badger - I expect Greendale to be quite good this year, however, I still think this type of game, this type of opponent, are a bridge too far for them...especially on the road. Can they prove me wrong? Perhaps, LGB does have quite a bit to replace, but the Badgers are nothing if not consistent from year-to-year. The Panthers haven't been recently.

Friday, 8/17

Westosha Central at Racine Case - WC had a resurgent year, but the catalyst for that, QB Jaden Jackson, has graduated. Still, a large portion of the contributors are back. The same cannot be said for Case, who took a bit of a hit with their graduation losses.

Burlington at South Milwaukee - The SLC has owned the Woodland in recent times. Shouldn't have any problem with the Rockets, but Burlington has to replace some of their top contributors. Is it enough to give pause on this pick? No, not really.

Lodi at Delavan-Darien/Williams Bay - Lodi are the defending state champs and always seem to reload. Another new coach at D-D plus heavy losses in production means this could get ugly.

Franklin at Waterford - Waiting for Franklin to have a down year? You'll be waiting for a long time by the looks of it. SLC teams have given the Sabers a bit of trouble over the years, and the Wolverines are no slouches themselves. Franklin always finds a way in the end though.

Elkhorn at New Berlin West - Both teams lost large chunks of production, but Elkhorn will be a bit younger than NBW, I think that's the difference here.

Wilmot at Kenosha Bradford - Major roster turnover abound in this game. Just not sure if there's enough talent in KUSD to sustain three viable teams. Could all three miss the playoffs this year? A real possibility.

Union Grove at Greenfield - History says the SLC fares better against the Woodland, and seeing as the Koch influence is now gone from this program, the outlook in Greenfield is cloudy.

Greendale at Lake Geneva Badger - Badger is nothing if not consistent. An upper tier finish in the SLC remains in the cards. That said, Greendale certainly is no slouch themselves. Expecting it will be a good game.

Friday, 8/17

Westosha Central at Racine Case - I feel like athletics at Westosha as a whole are trending up. Something seems real nice about their team this year with production back.

Burlington at South Milwaukee - Because Woodland.

Lodi at Delavan-Darien/Williams Bay - I feel like Lodi will take lumps in the NC slate later, but not here. I’m not expecting a total annihilation, but their talent level and coaching level is a cut above D-D.

Franklin at Waterford - I anticipate this will be a hotly contested game, but Franklin has the looks of another Southeastern champ by all reports. Who knows, though, week one can produce zany results.

Elkhorn at New Berlin West - Not a case of Southern Lakes being better here.

Wilmot at Kenosha Bradford - On a whim. The possibility of a lll three Kenosha schools missing scares me.

Union Grove at Greenfield: Greenfield looks like a contender in the Woodland East. However, they will have a hard time meeting expectations here against the Broncos.

Greendale at Lake Geneva Badger: Can they repeat last year's 31-30 thriller? Possibly but I think Badger grinds out a win late.

Friday, 8/17

Westosha Central at Racine Case: Can WC continue their upward trend? It's going to be a few weeks until I get a good feel on Case for the year.

Burlington at South Milwaukee: Despite losing some talent Burlington should handle South Milwaukee here.

Lodi at Delavan-Darien/Williams Bay: Lodi starts their title defense with a big win on the road. D-D/WB looks like their in for a long year.

Franklin at Waterford: Will this game be a bit more competitive than last year? Yes but I doubt that Waterford will be able to bridge the gap and beat Franklin at home.

Elkhorn at New Berlin West: Looks like more of the same for Elkhorn again this year. West will probably sneak into the playoffs via the Crossover in week 9.

Wilmot at Kenosha Bradford: Probably get burned on this pick but I think will the losses that Bradford sustained, it's hard to see them winning this. Wilmot looks like they'll be in the mix in the SLC.
