Friday 9/14

Racine St. Catherine's at Dominican - Dominican with an emphatic win last week to bolster their playoff hopes...hopes that partially hinge on getting out of this one healthy. Running clock by halftime.

Martin Luther at Shoreland Lutheran - Not that last week was particularly hard, but DC-R did have to tote the rock 20+ times for a change. This week it's back to 200+ by halftime.

Saturday, 9/15

Catholic Central at St. Thomas More - Metro GOTW pretty much by default. BCC got a much-needed conference win over Shoreland last week, and while STM looked decent against a very wounded KSJ team two weeks ago, at this point they're still learning how to be competitive, let alone win.

Forfeit: Racine Lutheran 2 Kenosha St. Joseph's 0 - I wonder if KSJ was playing Shoreland, would this one be played?

Funny that this small-school conference has quickly become a tale of the haves and have-nots. It was only a few years ago that TM and SL were heading to the playoffs, which is a good reminder that things can turn quickly in prep football. They won't change before the end of this season, though.

Week Five Matchups

Friday 9/14

Racine St. Catherine's at Dominican - Ouch. This is going to get ugly. I'd love to ask Coach Miller how he keeps his kids sharp for the playoffs when you have back-to-back weeks like RSC is having. I don't doubt that he does, but it can't be an easy task.

Martin Luther at Shoreland Lutheran - DCR is one special kid, but it was nice to see the other aspects of GML's team get a chance to shine. They wouldn't be dominating other schools without him, but they've had talent in a number of spots for a few years now and their success is clearly a team/program effort.

Saturday

Catholic Central at St. Thomas More - Dare I pick TM this week? They are certainly improving. This one could go either way, but really, BCC is more seasoned and has a head coach who's won state titles. In a tough call, go with that.

Forfeit: Racine Lutheran 2 Kenosha St. Joseph's 0 - Do any of you more-connected WSNers know what happened here? I'm assuming the injury bug bit KSJ hard?

*Back-to-back-to-back...RSC's conference schedule is certainly back-loaded.

That's the official word. They had a ton of injuries last year too, but I think the numbers are down this year and they don't wanna press freshmen into duty.

Racine St. Catherine's at Dominican: Dominican may have made life easier for them making the postseason but they will find out the hard way how big the gap between them and the top of the league is.

Martin Luther at Shoreland Lutheran: Poor Shoreland. DC-R goes off in the first half and the second stringers get more reps than they did last week.

Saturday

Catholic Central at St. Thomas More: Bleh on this one. BCC has shown some improvement than STM at this point of the season.
