Hope Christian at Kenosha St. Joseph's - HOPEfully they play this week. KSJ needs this after the shellacking they took in Week 1.

Martin Luther at University School - Crawley-Reid left, right and center. And maybe a swing pass or wheel route too. If the Spartans embarrassed Whitnall last week, I shudder to think what will happen to a team that couldn't defeat BCC last week. We're not that far removed from USM winning this matchup either.

Shoreland Lutheran at Johnson Creek - Shoreland lost to an MPS team to start the year...and now gets a pretty solid program in Johnson Creek. Can't see this one going too well for the Pacers. That deep playoff run already seems like ages ago.

Racine Lutheran at Racine Park - RaLu won comfortably a year ago, and I'm picking them again here, though Park's explosiveness is Week 1 gives me pause. The Panthers also may have the advantage in the trenches this year. Stay tuned, could be a sleeper for GOTW...or just another bad loss for the once-proud Panther program.

St. Thomas More at St. Francis - Another round of will STM avoid the shutout? I think they get a late consolation score here, but it's gonna get ugly.

Racine St. Catherine's at Union Grove - Honestly thought UG would do more against Greenfield. RSC came out guns ablazing. UG will provide a better litmus test than Cudahy, but RSC still wins comfortably here.

Dominican at SWCHA - SWCHA got bossed by Custer, 46-0. Dominican struggled with an undermanned one-dimensional team in Assumption. SWCHA remains a bit of an unknown because players come in and out of that program from literally all over, but a running clock thrashing to a middling MPS program tells me the Knights should be able knock off more of that rust here.

Saturday, 8/25

Catholic Central at Living Word Lutheran - My suspicions were confirmed when the BA transfer Woods had a big hand in LWL's blowout victory over STM. BCC got a much-needed program win in Week 1, but while this should be a decent game, I don't see them going to 2-0.

Hope Christian at Kenosha St. Joseph's - So Roncalli is better than anyone thought, and the Lancers appear to be worse. This game should help the latter get back on track.

Martin Luther at University School - I don't see U-School succeeding where Whitnall couldn't. I'm sure their defense will be drilled on gap integrity and playing as a unit this week, but I don't know that it will matter much. DCR vs Julius Davis on the Rushing Yards Leaderboard is going to be one of the most fun subplots of this entire season.

Shoreland Lutheran at Johnson Creek - No clue what Johnson Creek is like, just picking them based on Shoreland's underwhelming Week 1.

Racine Lutheran at Racine Park - Would love to see Park win this (seriously-- Lutheran over Park? Even ten years ago this would have been unthinkable) but right now, the best athletes in Racine are playing their prep sports at Horlick, St. Cat's, Lutheran and Prairie. And not necessarily in that order.

St. Thomas More at St. Francis - St. Francis has a former TM head coach assisting on their sideline. He is currently the only TM head coach since the legendary Jim Haluska to win a conference title at that school. This status won't be changing anytime soon.

Racine St. Catherine's at Union Grove - St. Cat's would go undefeated in the Woodland East. Their lack of depth would be exposed playing an SLC schedule, but in a one-off game like this I'd take them against any school in the Southern Lakes as well. They just have too much talent at the skill positions and adequate strength on the line.

Dominican at SWCHA - A week late, but I should get my fireworks from the Flying Dlugopolski Brothers this time around.

Saturday, 8/25

Catholic Central at Living Word Lutheran - I've been told that Brookfield Academy has very high standards for how their athletes conduct themselves on and off the field.

-I'm still a bit shocked at how Dominican doesn't use quick-hitters in their passing game to get the ball to either Dlugopolski. Assumption consistently rushed one more guy than Dominican had to block and the LB got home on the delayed blitz nearly everytime. That cannot continue if Dominican is to survive this year and have any sort of success.

-A reference to how Mr. Woods ended up in Jackson?

Hope Christian at Kenosha St. Joseph's: Will this game get played? KSJ needs to get the taste of that 40-0 blowout from Roncalli out of their mouths.

Martin Luther at University School: USM got ambushed by rebuilding BCC crew. Now they get run over by the DCR express.

Shoreland Lutheran at Johnson Creek: While losing to a very good MPS team like Hamilton is no reason to hang your head on, that was maybe one of two surefire W's for Shoreland this year.

Racine Lutheran at Racine Park: Having a belief that this game will be closer than anyone expects. Still thinking RaLu comes away with a W here.

St. Thomas More at St. Francis: At least More scored 20? Doubt they get as many garbage points here.

Racine St. Catherine's at Union Grove: UG looked very sloppy against Greenfield. They have to cut down on offensive miscues if they want to have a chance here.

Dominican at SWCHA: If you can't score more than 20 points against SWCHA, you do not deserve to earn a playoff spot.

Saturday, 8/25

Catholic Central at Living Word Lutheran : BCC got the jump on USM last week. Doubt they'll do it again against LWL.

No better example of that change than former Park/Carthage standout RB Cory Tenner's kids all playing at Lutheran, including star RB Tyler.

Exactly. There was a time not that long ago that this would have been unthinkable, but a lot has changed and it's not even just the Choice program that's doing it, although that is a factor. Dan Miller (a Park grad) has built something special at St. Cat's and kids of all backgrounds want to play for him (check out the Junior Angels program if you doubt it-- they are miles ahead of any other school in Racine).  Caron Butler's (Case) kid played basketball at Prairie. The list goes on.

Horlick is doing alright and carrying the flag-- for now. But everything is officially screwy in Racine for the foreseeable future. Foxconn is changing everything down there and it's going to affect schools too. It wouldn't be a shock to see Caledonia finally split from Unified-- sentiment has been trending that way for years-- or for Mt. Pleasant to try the same thing. And wouldn't THAT mess with the status quo....
