Oconomowoc at Brookfield Central - Thought this might be a turnaround season for Cooney. After Week 1's result, that's not going to be the case. BC rolls again before things start to get a bit more challenging for the Lancers.

Friday, 8/24

Menomonee Falls at West Allis Hale - Davis right, left and center. Falls offense doesn't have much outside of the top-ranked player, but he's all they need now. Hale barely put up a whimper against Hamilton. Only question here is over/under 300 yards for Davis.

Wauwatosa East at Germantown - Tosa East took the expected shellacking in Week 1. I noticed one of their top guys from last year is now playing for B'East.😒 G'Town kinda blew it against Falls...don't think they'll have to worry about that here.

Brookfield East at Marquette - Going with the minor upset (?) here. B'East did what they had to do to beat Tosa West. Marquette was physical and pushed around an Arrowhead team of questionable merit. I'll take Marquette at home with they're improved defense slowing the B'East attack.

Sussex Hamilton vs Wauwatosa West - Tosa West may be better built to compete with Sussex than they were to deal with B'East last week. That said, I don't think that will make much of a difference with this year's version of the Chargers.

Week Two Matchups

Thursday, 8/23

Oconomowoc at Brookfield Central - So how exactly did BC land Cooney for the crossover, and not Muskego or Memorial? Would much rather see them playing Memorial, West or even KM.

Friday, 8/24

Menomonee Falls at West Allis Hale - If the over/under on Davis is officially set at 300, I'll take the over as well. Hale will be better but this isn't the year we'll see it.

Wauwatosa East at Germantown - After years pushing Homestead in the North Shore, G'Town is looking like a consistent middle-of-the-pack club in the GMC. Says a lot for the top-to-bottom strength of this conference.

Brookfield East at Marquette - Another sign of conference strength is Marquette being seen as an underdog here. East has earned that front-runner status with a couple good seasons, but MUHS is looking to reclaim a place within the top tier.

Sussex Hamilton vs Wauwatosa West - Hamilton is another challenger looking to climb up the pecking order. A win for West here isn't out of the question-- these are the games they need to win to get out of the basement-- but might be a step too far.

Games of Note

Mukwonago at Kettle Moraine - Look, I don't like much about how KM is building things. Their 8th Grade teams showed up to a youth scrimmage (you know, where everyone wears dirty practice jerseys) in form-fitting, game-quality jerseys with the players' names on the back. That sort of entitlement drives me nuts. But they ARE building something, and while MUK is too, KM is a year or two further along with it than the Indians are. That year or two is their edge in this game.

Racine Lutheran at Racine Park - Would love to see Park win this (seriously-- Lutheran over Park? Even ten years ago this would have been unthinkable) but right now, the best athletes in Racine are playing their prep sports at Horlick, St. Cat's, Lutheran and Prairie. And not necessarily in that order.

St. Mary's Springs at Amherst - The "Never Bet Against HoF WISAA Coaches" rule is nearly defunct, but still remains in force for Bill Young and Bob Hyland.

Oconomowoc at Brookfield Central: Well Cooney probably blew possibly their only chance at a sure win this year last week. Now a running clock ensues here.

Friday, 8/24

Menomonee Falls at West Allis Hale: Hopefully Hale can avoid a running clock in the first half this week.

Wauwatosa East at Germantown: G-Town may be young this year, but they aren't on the level of TE here.

Brookfield East at Marquette: Very solid effort against Arrowhead for MUHS. Again B'East had some issues against Tosa West before pulling away in the second half. Going with the home team here.

Sussex Hamilton vs Wauwatosa West: Tosa West has to prove that they want matchups like these if they want to move up in the GMC.
